CILACAP (July 24th, 2024) – The residents of Karangkemiri Village, Jeruklegi District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java Province felt the impact of drought. At least 4,000 people in 10 villages in 6 districts experienced a clean water crisis.
The head of “Satria” Center in Baturaden, in collaboration with Regional Board for Disaster Management (BPBD), and the Social Office of Cilacap Regency distributed assistance of 10.000 clean water.
“Previously, MoSA coordinated with Regional Board for Disaster Management and Social Office to map the prioritized distribution area and to check mobile water tank preparation,” Darmanto said on Wednesday (July 24th, 2024).
Clean water in Karangkemiri Village was distributed to the residents of Karangaglik Orchard and Karangkemiri Orchard consisting of 120 families. Mobile water tanks distribute the water in public facilities such as schools and mosques.
“We hope that the water assistance can be useful, ease the financial burden, and maintain their health,” he hoped.
The benefit of water assistance from MoSA was directly felt by Kaswen (70), a resident of Karangkemiri Village because he felt the ease of getting clean water for daily needs.
Before, Kaswen and the locals had to walk for about 500 meters to collect water from a local well.
“I go back and forth five times a day. I bring two buckets on each trip. The water is rare, so we have to save water and take a bath once a day, in turn with my grandchild. I wash the clothes in the well, so I don’t use up the water in the house,” Kaswen complained.
Representing the residents, the chief of Karangaglik Orchard, Dalim expressed his gratitude to MoSA because the water assistance was very useful for his people to overcome the drought.
“Thank you so much, I wish that the assistance can be useful for the residents in Karangkemiri Village, especially in Karangaglik Orchard,” Dalim said.
MoSA together with Regional Board for Disaster Management and the Social Office of Cilacap Regency would distribute water assistance in another 9 villages affected by drought based on Regional Board for Disaster Management’s priority mapping in Cilacap Regency.
