JAYAPURA (22 November 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta held a Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) Support for Vocational Guidance and Entrepreneurship for Crocodile Tanning Skills. The activity was held at the Jayapura Center for Social Welfare Education and Training (BBPPKS) on 21 – 30 November 2021.

 

The purpose of this activity is to provide initial training for participants to be able to process crocodile skin into a profitable commodity for improving the welfare of the community.

 

The activity was attended by 31 people who are in the Social Welfare Service Recipient (PPKS) category in the provinces of Papua and West Papua. Participants will gain theoretical and practical knowledge from resource persons consisting of the Social Office, Population, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of Papua Province, Department of Industry, Cooperatives, MSMEs, and Papua Province Manpower, BBPPKS Jayapura, Indonesia Cross-Cultural Institute (ICCI), and Practitioners in the field of crocodile skin processing.

 

The Head of Soeharso Center Surakarta Juena said that please take this training seriously so that you can apply the knowledge gained so that it can be applied in the community where you live. Regarding the sales process, promotions will be assisted by the Center, and after participating in this training, all participants will be given a set of crocodile skin tanning business tools so that they can start a business by applying the knowledge gained during the training, Juena stressed.

 

Juena emphasized that the best participants will be invited to share or discuss as well as exchange experiences in training activities that will be held in Bandung and as a motivator for the training participants.

 

He continued, Juena said that regarding the activities carried out at Soeharso Center Surakarta, which currently provides social rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities and other Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS), and is currently producing Tricycle Chairs and developing ATENSI Creation Centers (SKA).

 

“Hopefully, this training can provide great benefits, become economically independent, and this can be a very good livelihood. This can be a business and it can be the work of all of you," said Juena Br. Sitepu, Head of Soeharso Center Surakarta, at the opening which was held today (22/11).

 

The Head of the Social Welfare Education and Training Center (BBPPKS), represented by Malik Alim, gave great support to the implementation of this activity and was ready to facilitate the participants during the activity. "Related to the current conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic, while attending training and being in the Center environment, we must continue to carry out health protocols according to the recommendations of the Covid-19 task force," she stressed.

Also present at the Opening Ceremony of ATENSI Vocational Guidance and Entrepreneurship for Crocodile Tanning Skills, Social Office, Population, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of Papua Province, Department of Industry of Mamberamo Raya Regency, Social Service of Mamberamo Raya Regency, Secretariat of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Indonesia Cross-Cultural Institute (ICCI).
