TERNATE (July 20, 2021) – As a follow-up to the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharani, Wasana Bahagia Center Ternate established a public kitchen post. The establishment of public kitchens aims to provide ready-to-eat food to residents affected by COVID-19, especially for those who are undergoing self-isolation.

 

Head of Wasana Bahagia Ternate Udan Suheli said his staff prepared at least 120 ready-to-eat rice boxes every day. The menu in each box consists of rice, chicken eggs, fish, vegetables, and fruits.

 

"We distributed the food packages to 60 recipients during the day and night," said Udan, (20/07). The distribution of food packages begins on July 19 and will last for the next fourteen days.

 

One of the recipients of the food aid, Nia (40 years old), a resident of Gamayou Ternate, expressed her joy at being assisted by Wasana Bahagia Center. Nia thanked MoSA for the assistance provided. With the help of this package at least one burden has been reduced on her shoulders.

 

"Thank you, Minister Risma. Now I can focus on recovery, I need to get well soon and continue my catering business,” said Nia. She and her three children are currently self-isolating. On Friday (16/7) Nia and one of her children were declared reactive for antigen swab.

 

Immediately after being declared reactive, Nia reported to the village officer of West Makassar Village. By the sub-district staff, Nia's case was reported to Wasana Bahagia Center.

 

“I am a single parent, to meet my daily needs I have a catering business. However, since self-isolation, I stopped it," said Nia.

MoSA through Wyata Guna Center quick responses in the distribution of ready-to-eat food and cooked eggs to support the fulfillment of food for people affected by Covid-19 during the Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) period. The high demand from the community makes the public kitchen team continue to increase production volume.

 

From the previous 2000 rice boxes, since Sunday (19/7) it has increased to 2,515 rice boxes. The team that sent the boxed rice packages reached 27 locations in a day. The boxed rice menu is rendang, stir-fried carrot meatballs, oranges, and mineral water directly distributed to hospitals, Social Welfare Institutions (LKS), communities, self-isolated residents, police, community protectors, sub-districts, orphanages, Koramil, Indonesian Christian Church (GKI), insulation officers with a total distribution of 7,062 eggs, 3,531 egg packs, 2,515 rice boxes.

Lulu Ridwan Wibawa from Public Kitchen distribution team personnel said that every day he starts his activities from 07.00 am to 12.00 noon. Coordination is carried out with the Disaster Preparedness Cadet (Tagana) to determine the distribution objectives so that they can share tasks with other distribution team personnel.

“There are five distribution vehicles. Every day at least I distribute food twice. The distribution involves all elements, starting from Wyata Guna Bandung employees, Tagana members, and West Java Social Office employees," he said.

In working, teams share tasks so that distribution goals can be achieved. Some parties who received assistance expressed appreciation and gratitude for the hard work and assistance from MoSA.
