MATARAM (May 21, 2020) - Located in the hall of the Mataram City Social Service, the Head of the Bali “Mahatmiya” Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Visual Sensory Disabilities (BRSPDSN), Sutiono, distributed basic food assistance to 126 assistance recipients in Mataram City out of a total of 630 assistance recipients spread across 4 Regencies/Cities in West Nusa Tenggara Province.
At the first distribution, Sutiono was accompanied by the Secretary of the Mataram City Social Service, Gusti Ayu Mahakamiyati, and the Head Section of the Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities and Drug Abuse Victims, Zulfa Nur Azizah. Sutiono said that this assistance was given to ease their burden. “This assistance is given to you in order to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic that we are experiencing right now. Hopefully, it can help those who are having difficulties in making a living,” explained Sutiono.
The second location visited was East Lombok District. The distribution of the assistance was accompanied by the Head of the East Lombok, H. Ahmad, and the Head of the Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities and Drug Abuse Victims, Yulia Adria Sofiatri. The distribution of basic food targets 264 people with disabilities.
The main source of income for persons with visual sensory disabilities is massage therapy. However, the implementation of health protocols in the form of physical distancing makes it difficult for them to find customers. The assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs greatly eases their basic food needs.
