PATI (2 July 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Margo Laras Pati Center provides accompaniment and ATENSI assistance a Troubled Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMIB) from Malaysia during the repatriation process to his area of ​​origin. Following the instructions of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini that every Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs including 41 Social Rehabilitation Centers must participate in assisting PMIB repatriation to meet their families.

 

Head of Margo Laras Center, Jiwaningsih assigned 2 (two) officers to participate in assisting the repatriation of 1 (one) PMIB from Malaysia from Rembang Regency back to his family after undergoing quarantine at Wisma Atlet Jakarta for 5 (five) days following health protocols, then transit at the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Semarang waiting for pick-up and repatriation assistance.

 

After coordinating with the Head of Development and Empowerment of BP2MI Semarang, Rodi, then proceeded with the handover from BP2MI to Margo Laras Center, then reported PMIB's return to the Village Head and handed over to the family. Margo Laras officers also conduct assessments in the context of providing ATENSI services.

 

Based on the results of the assessment, the PMIB who was repatriated from Malaysia was named Kasturi who came from Sumbermulyo Village, RT 05 RW 01 Sarang District, Rembang Regency. He was married but divorced, while his ex-wife lives in Medan City.

 

"I live with my nephew, my cellphone was confiscated, I don't remember the family's cellphone number, my ID card was also lost in Serdang," said Kasturi. Before working in Malaysia he worked as a construction worker, odd jobs, various jobs. Then Kasturi migrated to Malaysia from 2017 to 2021 (for 4 years). He borrowed money from his brother in the amount of 1,500 Malaysian ringgit to buy a ticket to depart.

 

Since then he has never returned, working with his employer as a trader. The results of his work in Malaysia are routinely sent to his family once a month as much as 1-3 million rupiahs to help the needs of families in Indonesia.

 

“My passport is dead and I didn't renew it. Because I was deemed to have no documents, I was an illegal TKI, and I was arrested by the officer and once put in the bars of the Kajang prison for 14 days, then in the Immigration Detention Center for 1 year and 3 months. It was only on 27 June 2021 that the Indonesian government assisted in the repatriation, then quarantined for 5 days at the Wisma Atlet Kademangan, Jakarta, "explained Kasturi. While at Wisma Atlet, he had undergone a swab test, and his food was guaranteed, he said.

"On July 1, 2021, at 08.00 p.m. by taking the Surabaya group bus, 6 of us got off and transited at BP2MI Semarang. The documents I brought were a replacement passport, a Covid-19 free certificate, and a cover letter," said Kasturi.

We are officers from the Ministry of Social Affairs, we have a responsibility to assist to get home, don't worry, we will deliver it to meet your family soon," said AAS coordinator Margo Laras Center, Yasin Pramono Adi.

Not only accompanying the repatriation process to meeting with family, the Margo Laras Center team also provides family support Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) services. One of them is providing family strengthening by motivating Kasturi to develop their potential.

"I can drive a truck, but I don't have a driver's license. I just want to sell fish later to help the family's economy, the important thing is that there is a business opportunity," added Kasturi.

After arriving in Rembang, the officer handed it over to the Village Head. "I am ready to help facilitate the proposal for recording the E-KTP as a replacement for the lost KTP," said Sumbermulyo Village Head Ahmad Nurofiq.

When he got home, Kasturi looked for his mother. But according to the information from his relative, his mother died 5 months ago, only Dila, Kasturi's daughter, is 10 years old and is in 3rd grade due to delays. With an awkward face because she was left for 4 years, Dila called “father” to Kasturi. "I am happy to meet my father," responded Dilla when she was called by Triwidodo a Junior Social Worker.

 "The arrival of Kasturi, who has had no contact and news for almost 2 years, is very encouraging to us. It is very happy for our brother to be able to go home, here, there is a small child who is being cared for by his grandmother. We as a family are very grateful for the role of the Ministry of Social Affairs who has helped us, "said Muklis Kasturi's cousin. Tears were falling over the atmosphere of the family gathering, they were very grateful because the government paid attention to troubled migrants.

With this assistance and family support ATENSI services from Margo Laras Center, it is hoped that it will be able to provide psychological reinforcement for Kasturi, because what he currently needs is motivation and support from his family," concluded Yasin.
