MEDAN (21 February 2022) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center “Bahagia” Medan distributes Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program for vulnerable groups in North Sumatra Province.

 

The distribution of this aid was symbolically handed over by Member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Endang Maria Astuti, and her entourage at the Medan Hajj Dormitory. The handover of this assistance coincided with the Recess Work Visit of the Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to North Sumatra Province for the 2021-2022 Session Period.

 

Assistance was given to 356 orphans, fatherless and motherless affected by Covid-19 who had passed a needs assessment and nutritional assistance, each child received a savings of IDR 200,000 per month for two months which was symbolically handed over to those 5 children.

 

"Thank you for the support of Commission VIII of the DPR RI for various Ministry of Social Affairs’ Programs. The Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) that we provide is multi-service. Both family, community, and residential based," said the Head of Bahagia Center Medan, Lifyarman.

 

Lifyarman also said that the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini initiated the distribution of ATENSI Savings for orphans, fatherless and motherless whose parents died of Covid-19. "Yes, special handling for orphans affected by Covid-19," said Lifyarman.

 

Lifyarman added that the Ministry of Social Affairs will continue to provide social rehabilitation services in various regions in Indonesia, according to the results of the needs assessment of each beneficiary.

 

Member of Commission VIII DPR RI, Endang Maria Astuti said that her party appreciated the performance of the Ministry of Social Affairs. "We appreciate the performance of the Ministry of Social Affairs. A touching and useful program. The goal is no longer just to assist, but to make beneficiaries productive," she said.

 

The next day, located in the Balairung Room of the Deli Serdang Regent's Office, Bahagia Center Medan also distributed assistance for people with physical disabilities in the form of three-wheeled motorbikes for business development.

 

This assistance was given symbolically to 2 persons with disabilities from Deli Serdang Regency. The distribution of aid was witnessed by M. Husni, Member of Commission VIII DPR RI for the North Sumatra I region.

 

Husni said that assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs was very much needed for the beneficiaries. He also emphasized that Commission VIII of the DPR RI will continue to oversee the Ministry of Social Affairs’ programs that lead to the independence of the beneficiaries.
