JAKARTA (25 July 2021) – The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate of Children's Social Rehabilitation held a series of events on the 5th day to commemorate National Children's Day 2021. The event held was a Children's Talk Show with the theme "Let's Share Through Hobbies" which was attended by 280 children from various regions of Indonesia.

This activity is carried out as a forum for children to share through their hobbies. Present at this event were 2 (two) speakers, among others Hesti Novitasari, Child, Adolescent and Family Psychologist and Ninin Kholida, OASE Indonesia Tallent Mapping Practitioner guided by Akiko Lahitani as moderator.

The activity, which was broadcast through the Zoom application and the Ministry of Social's youtube channel was opened with a video display of the diversity of Indonesian children's hobbies such as painting, gardening, sports, and various other children's hobby activities.

Vania, one of the children who pursues her hobby in the field of pencak silat, revealed that this hobby was originally just a fad. "Initially, it was a pleasure to participate in activities since elementary school, but after a long time it turned into a hobby and an achievement," said Vania, who often wins pencak silat competitions.

"Parents must direct and children must try so that their hobby can be something useful," said Hesti.

Hesti also explained the meaning of hobby which, if abbreviated, would mean happy, original, brave, and inspirational.

In the talk show, participants were also invited to have fun together by following the TikTok movement "Indonesia Merdeka" which was guided by children. This makes children feel entertained and not bored, especially in the current pandemic conditions.

Furthermore, one of the children named Aufar had the opportunity to show his work in the form of handicrafts from clay which is the result of pursuing his hobby of watching YouTube while at home. "Well, if we can use technology into something useful, it will be very extraordinary," said Ninin.

Apart from this, the talk show also featured a live broadcast of a child who likes to play the piano named Alfredo.

"Starting as a hobby, then honing it and having the courage to present it can now be a work that is pleasing to the ear," Hesti said motivating.

"Besides that, the support from an environment that provides opportunities for Alfredo to show his hobbies or skills is also one of the keys," added Ninin.
