MOJOKERTO (7 May 2021) – The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Magelang "Antasena" Center sent a team to respond to the case of Children Needing Special Protection (AMPK), namely children victims of sexual crimes and children with physical growth constraints in the city of Mojokerto, East Java.

 

The Case Response Team conducts psychosocial assessments and assessments of children's needs before providing assistance to fulfill children's basic needs and psychosocial assistance to children and their parents so that the assistance provided is in accordance with the child's needs.

 

The implementation of the response to this case is a direction from the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini said that the Centers of Ministry of Social Affairs must be able to respond quickly to all social problems in society.

 

The "Antasena" team together with the Mojokerto City Social Worker Service Unit headed to the residence of a child with the initials TRD, who was a victim of sexual harassment by someone she had just met on social media. The location of TRD's house is in a slum and densely populated area with uninhabitable housing conditions. The team provided psychosocial assistance, strengthened motivation , and provided assistance in the form of school supplies, religious supplies, and necessities.

 

TRD and her family welcomed the arrival of the team and the assistance they provided. "Thank you very much for caring for our child, hopefully, this assistance will make our child more enthusiastic about going through the days and managing her future," said TRD's mother.

 

TRD still looked sad, cried several times while hugging her mother but remained friendly, open, and communicative. She hopes that the perpetrator will receive the appropriate punishment.

 

The second location is a children's house with physical growth constraints, in the Magersari sub-district, Mojokerto city. Toddlers with the initials FYS (2 years) looked thin and weak. At this age, she weighs only 7 kg and is unable to walk or speak. Her legs didn't seem strong enough to stand up.

 

FYS is born normal, but in its development it experiences obstacles. FYS must undergo physiotherapy and require additional nutrition. The Resus team provides basic needs services in the form of milk, biscuits, bread, disposable diapers, and children's toys.

FYS lives with her grandmother, father, and 3-year-old brother. FYS's mother left without any word leaving them since 7 months ago, leaving behind a lot of debt, and having sold the motorcycle belonging to FYS's grandmother. FYS's father has not worked for 1 year because he was laid off due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Her grandmother fulfills her daily needs by selling layer cakes and apem cakes. It is known that FYS's grandmother also has heart disease.

The head of the Magelang "Antasena" Subdivision Administration Office, Arif Nurhidayat representing the head of the Center said that the Magelang "Antasena" Center is the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia under the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation has the task of dealing with children's social problems and Mojokerto is one of its working areas.

In addition to psychosocial assistance and post-traumatic recovery, we can also handle child cases with prevention efforts through the formation of the Child Care Community (KOMPAK), namely community-based child problem prevention efforts that involve and optimize the participation and involvement of community elements to give attention, care, and supervision of the potential for child problems.

"We hope that the Mojokerto PPPA Social Service can become our partner in establishing KOMPAK in the Mojokerto city area," Arif explained.

Acting Head of Mojokerto PPPA Social Service, Heru Setiyadi, agreed with this initiation. "Mojokerto City can be said to be a small city. It only has 3 sub-districts and 18 sub-districts but has complex urban social problems. So we are establishing partnerships, cooperation with other government and non-governmental organizations to overcome this problem in Mojokerto," explained Heru.

The assistance provided is aimed at restoring the psychological condition of the post-traumatic child so that the child can undergo a normal growth and development period.
