TANAH BUMBU (15 May 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through “Budi Luhur” Center of Banjarbaru implemented Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) in the form of Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) for flood victims in Sinar Bulan Village, Satui District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan.

The floods that have occurred since Thursday coincided with Eid al-Fitr (13/5) have drowned houses and agricultural land. The flood that hit Sinar Bulan Village made 52 heads of families (KK) consisting of 185 people forced to evacuate and celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the refugee camps. Currently, residents whose houses are flooded occupy SMPN 4 Satui as a temporary shelter.

Head of “Budi Luhur” Banjarbaru Center, Herry Pawoko, explained that Budi Luhur has deployed an LDP Team of 6 people consisting of Social Counselors and Social Workers. The main focus of this LDP activity is aimed at children who are victims of the floods, where they should have felt joy during the Eid al-Fitr celebration, but with this flood disaster they were forced to live in evacuation places.

The objectives of the LDP include conducting trauma healing in the form of self-confidence building, sharing experiences, psychosocial support aimed at reducing trauma and restoring the spirit of life to return to normal activities for flood victims, especially children. "What we are doing is eliminating the trauma of the children due to the floods yesterday, hopefully with a little help from us we can entertain the children here," Herry explained.

In addition to providing LDP, Budi Luhur also assisted to flood victims in the form of food ingredients consisting of 200 kg of rice, 50 boxes of instant noodles, 6 racks of chicken eggs, 50 boxes of mineral water, food for children, masks, and hand sanitizers.

Sinar Bulan Village Head Arifin really appreciated the arrival of the LDP Budi Luhur Team at Sinar Bulan Village. "Thank you, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Budi Luhur Center for providing food assistance. Thank you also for comforting our village children who were sad because they could not celebrate Eid at home, but now they are all happy again. Hopefully, the floods will recede quickly so that we can return to our homes,” said Arifin.
