Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Aid for Amount Rp 8.7 Billion to Child Victims of KRI Nanggala 402
SIDOARJO (May 1, 2021) - The Government through
the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has distributed aid
and compensation of Rp 8.7 billion to 87 children of victims of KRI Nanggala
402. This assistance was channeled directly by the President of the Republic of
Indonesia, Joko Widodo accompanied by the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri
Rismaharini at the Building Rotary Wings hangar, Sidoarjo Indonesian Navy Air
Base.
"On behalf of the
government and all Indonesian people, I would like to express my deep
condolences for the death of 53 Indonesian Navy soldiers at KRI Nanggala 402
while carrying out their duties in the northern sea of Bali Island. The
government really appreciates their struggle and patriotic spirit. The
government raises the ranks of one level to the soldiers who have died and are
also preparing housing for the family," said the President.
On this occasion the
President met the victims' families directly and gave them moral support. The
President also comforted the families of the victims who looked very sad
because of the incident.
"The soldiers who
died are the best citizen of the nation, the best patriots guarding the
nation's sovereignty. Hopefully, their spirits will be given the best place by God,"
said the President to strengthen the families of victims.
Each child of the victim
of KRI Nanggala 402 will be assisted Rp 100 million by the
Government. This assistance is given in the form of a savings book that can be
used to support the fulfillment of children's basic needs. The 87 children who
received assistance consisted of 47 families with the category of children who
were still in the womb, toddlers, kindergarten, elementary, middle, high schools,
and university children.
"Hopefully this
assistance can help alleviate some of the burdens of the families left
behind," said the Minister of Social Affairs.
The Ministry of Social
Affairs continues to monitor and ensure that victims' families receive
psychosocial assistance.
