MoSA Distributes Social Service Assistance for Social Welfare Service for Persons in Need in Karanganyar
Karanganyar (September 18th, 2023) – Ministry of Social Affairs through Yogyakarta Social Welfare Education and Training Center distributes social service assistance for 93 persons in need of social welfare (PPKS) in Karanganyar Regency.
The Head of Yogyakarta Social Welfare Education and Training Center Eva Rahmi Kasim said that the distribution of social service assistance is an implementation of Minister of Social Affairs Decree Number 221/HUK/2022 on the function of training center. Apart from providing education and training, the Training Center also provides social rehabilitation services for Persons in Needs, including persons with disabilities. The assistance is aimed to fulfill the proper life necessities, and to recover persons in need’s social functionality.
Social service assistance accepted by persons in need is in the form of basic needs fulfillment, such as basic food, nutrition, self-hygiene, school supplies, clothes, and assistive devices including adaptive wheelchairs, standard wheelchairs, kids’ wheelchairs, hearing aid, entrepreneurial assistance of 5 packages of chicken farming, and modified two-wheeled motorcycle for business with total assistance of 220,000,000 IDR sourced from ATENSI service program.
Karanganyar Regent Juliyatmono expresses his gratitude to Ministry of Social Affairs through Yogyakarta Social Welfare Education and Training Center for the support of the assistance distribution, especially the assistive devices for persons with disabilities because regional government is unable to meet assistive devices needs which is very much needed in his area.
“We will also accompany persons in need in utilizing the assistance distributed,” Juliyatmono said.
In his speech, the Head of Karanganyar Regency Social Office Sugeng Raharto also expressed his gratitude to all parties involved. Thus, social service assistance which has gone through the assessment and validation stages can be distributed according to the needs of persons in need.
Apart from that, Eva also asks the Social Office to continue monitoring and providing guidance and assistance to assistive device recipients, especially those who receive entrepreneurship assistance. Therefore, their businesses can continue to develop and ultimately become economically and socially independent.
Suwarno, a person with a physical disability, is one of the recipients of a modified two-wheeled motorcycle. He sells mung bean porridge near his house every day using a cart modified with a motorcycle.
"I hope that after receiving this assistance, my income will be better and I can travel further, not only around here but also outside the area," Suwarno said at the social service assistance distribution event.
Regent of Karanganyar, Head of the Karanganyar Regency Social Service, Representatives of National Board of Zakat (Baznas), and Head of Yogyakarta Social Welfare Education and Training Center were also present at the event.
