JAKARTA (December 1, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has started a series of events to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (HDI) in 2021 with the theme "Leadership and Participation of Persons with Disabilities towards an Inclusive, Accessibility, and Sustainable World Order Post-Covid-19".

 

Taking place at the Aneka Bhakti Building of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Jalan Salemba Raya No.28, Central Jakarta, the event was opened directly by the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini.

 

Social Rehabilitation Center “Melati” Jakarta as one of the Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs was present and fully contributed to the series of events commemorating HDI 2021. Melati Center Jakarta provided Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) support to 210 people of Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) consisting of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups affected by Covid-19.

 

The total ATENSI assistance from Melati Jakarta in the HDI 2021 commemoration event is Rp. 304,505,000,- which is given in two ATENSI components, namely, accessibility aids in the form of Hearing Aids (ABD), 4 in 1 Wheelchairs, Special Wheelchairs for Cerebral Palsy, Prosthetic Legs, and Armpit Canes for 84 persons with disabilities, as well as in components fulfilling the needs of a decent living for 126 vulnerable groups affected by Covid-19.

 

Anisa Dwi Shafiqah, a little girl with a hearing and speech sensory disability is very happy because she was chosen to receive ATENSI Hearing Aid (ABD) which was directly handed over by Social Minister Risma.

 

"You couldn’t hear yesterday but now you can. Anisa must go to school, learn to speak. Anisa is not mute, so Anisa must learn to speak, dear. So that Anisa can sing, she can scream. Come on now imitate Mother, shouted hurray. Come on, shout A loudly… That's great, dear,” said Risma, encouraging Anisa.

 

Ida Tanjung, Anisa's parents expressed their gratitude. Ida never thought that her daughter would be able to meet the Minister of Social Affairs in person. Ida expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs through Melati Jakarta.

 

Social Minister Risma also handed over ATENSI support in the form of prosthetic legs to Sinan, a physically disabled person from Tangerang Regency. Sinan looked happy while trying on his prosthetic leg. Sinan said he had long wanted to walk normally again and his dream came true.

 

Melati Jakarta also presented a slick performance from the Beneficiaries (PM) in the HDI commemoration event. Performing the movement and song “Meraih Bintang” which was popularized by Via Vallen, PMs appear confident singing it in sign language.

In addition, Melati Jakarta displayed various works of beneficiaries including wooden birdcages, embroidered veils, various ceramics, and earthenware, as well as various processed foods that were successfully attracted by exhibition visitors.
