HULU SUNGAI TENGAH (1 December 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center “Budi Luhur” Banjarbaru implements Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) through emergency response activities in the form of providing health check-up services and giving medicines to flood victims in Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, South Kalimantan Province.

A team of 5 people consisting of doctors, nurses, and social workers went directly to flood-affected locations and coordinated with the Hulu Sungai Tengah District Social Office.

Before the Ministry of Social Affairs team went to the field, quick steps were taken by the regional government of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency in dealing directly with flood survivors. The local government assisted by opening health service posts and public kitchens assisted by Tagana, such as at Gedung Juang and the Murakarta Barabai Sports Stadium.

"We opened a health service post, both direct and mobile or a house-to-house pick-up system, and were assisted by health workers and from Tagana and the local government and thank God the floods have started to recede", said Abdi Budiman, Head of the P2P Division of the Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency Health Office.

The team also visited the refugee camp at SMA Negeri 1 Barabai. The refugees have returned to their respective homes since yesterday because the flood had receded.

In addition, the team also went to other flood-affected locations at the Putri Muhibbin Islamic Boarding School in the Barabai Darat Village area to conduct health checks and distribute medicines. Many of them complain of itching, diarrhea, cough, and high blood pressure, especially the elderly.

"Thank you to Budi Luhur for helping with this health check and giving medicines," said Ilyas (59), a flood survivor in Barabai Darat Village.
