JAKARTA (25 July 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Bekasi “Budhi Dharma” Center distributed Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) service for the elderly on behalf of Suha (88 years old) in Central Jakarta.

This assistance was given at the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tri Rismaharini, who ordered the implementation of a rapid response to the elderly who were reported to be sick, living in cramped houses, and not having a bed to sleep on.

Following up on this report, the Head of the Bekasi “Budhi Dharma” Center, Pujiyanto gave instructions to the quick response team to conduct a Remote Assessment (AJJ). It didn't take long, after knowing the problems and needs of the elderly, the team immediately distributed aid.

"Immediately we will help Suha's grandmother as directed by the Minister of Social Affairs, provide assistance according to the assessment that has been carried out," said Pujiyanto while giving instructions to the quick response team.

Based on an assessment carried out with the elderly, their families, and the head of the local RT, information was obtained that Suha's grandmother lived in a narrow house with an area of 2.5 x 10 m² but had received house repair assistance from Kelurahan. Another assistance has never been obtained because he has not been registered in the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS). Currently, she lives with her youngest child who works odd jobs.

In addition to the assessment of social problems, the team also carried out health checks with the results of general good physical condition, but decreased intellectual function, hearing, and vision. To support the mobilization of the elderly at home, a small wheelchair is also needed.

The results of the assessment were followed up by providing family-based ATENSI services by providing nutritional packages (elderly milk, biscuits/snacks, honey and dates), room facilities assistance (mattresses, pillows, bolsters, blankets and sheets, health care (multivitamins, masks), and self-care (pampers).

In addition to the above assistance, the Center will also follow up again with accessibility assistance in the form of wheelchairs, and family support assistance in the form of business capital for elderly families, with further assessments for their business needs. Coordination was also carried out with the local government so that Suha's grandmother could be registered in the DTKS.
