YOGYAKARTA (November 15, 2022) - The problem of waste still haunts urban areas. Many parties pay serious attention to this issue. Several ways to overcome the waste problem, one of which is to process organic waste into BSF Maggot cultivation.

The BSF (Black Soldier Fly) maggot is the larva of a large black fly that looks like a wasp. BSF maggot is easy to cultivate and beneficial for the environment because it can decompose organic waste. BSF maggot can also be used as an alternative to super nutritious feed for livestock. This type of animal feed is getting more and more fans. In addition, BSF Maggot can be processed into a dry maggot, maggot oil, maggot flour, and maggot pellets.

Some time ago, BBPPKS Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Magelang City Social Office and PKH City Human Resources Management held a Community Empowerment Training through BSF Maggot Cultivation Social Entrepreneurship for PKH and BPNT Beneficiary Families (KPM) Magelang City. The training was held for 4 days from 26 to 29 October 2022 at Tat Twam Asi Hall of the KUMUDA Children's Social Service Institution (PPSA) Magelang.

As many as 30 participants were given entrepreneurial spirit motivational material by a team from Fita Farm, Magelang City. As basic knowledge, participants were given knowledge about the introduction of organic waste, BSF Magot cultivation, and Eco Enzym processing by the Team from Guwosari TC. After understanding how to cultivate magot, participants also learned the BSF Magot Product Processing Technique by TM Garbage Bantul.

As a continuation of the previous entrepreneurship material, a team of Surabaya Economic Heroes was presented to convey how to make a good packaging and marketing. Participants were provided with simple bookkeeping and entrepreneurial development strategies from the Satoeassa and Omah Maggot Magelang teams to start future business activities.

After participating in this training, it is hoped that the participants will get additional income from maggot cultivation and help reduce the problem of organic waste in their area. At the end of the training, the participants received a set of equipment to start a maggot cultivation business including fly cages, gas stoves, scales, meat grinders, trays, and frying pans.
