SUKABUMI (June 18, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, through Phala Martha Center, moved quickly to the house of "LP" which is located in the Patangan Village, Nagrak District, Sukabumi Regency. This is a follow-up to the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, that each Ministry of Social Affairs Center must immediately respond to information about social problems that occur in the community.

When receiving information from the community about the existence of ODGJ, the Head of Phala Martha Center, Cup Santo assigned an Emergency Response Team consisting of Social Workers and Social Counselors, collaborating with TKSK and Nagrak social volunteers to visit the house of "LP", a 20-year-old boy who suspected of having a mental disorder with a very worrying condition.

The location of the "LP" house is far in the middle of the rice fields and has no neighbors. To reach his house must be reached on foot as far as 2 km. The condition of the "LP" house was heavily damaged, the cement floor was dirty, the walls were damaged, and the household appliances were poor and messy. The house is only occupied by 2 people, namely "LP" and his father with the initials "UP".

They both live far from the village residents. To fulfill his daily needs, "UP" as his father works odd jobs, waiting for someone to tell him to work in the fields or other informal jobs.

"LP has suffered from a mental disorder since 6 years ago and has never received direct treatment from a psychiatrist. LP has taken medicine obtained from the public health center, but now "LP" is no longer taking medicine ", said UP.

"Every day LP just stays in the house or sometimes travels here and there without a purpose," said Arum, a Social Volunteer for the Nagrak District.

The wife of the Head of Patangan Village, Dewi Lasmanawati, who was also an "LP" teacher when she was in Tsanawiyah, said that during her school days, the prison had started to look depressed since her parents divorced.

"The current condition of the prison sometimes disturbs the residents because they like to shout, rage and babble indiscriminately. The prison also sometimes carries sharp objects so that it disturbs residents, although so far it has never hurt residents," said Dewi.

LP's mental health condition is still restless. When the team came, "LP" did not want to communicate, even avoided, leaving the officers. Social Counselor of Phala Martha Karim Syauki said that based on the results of the assessment and observations made by the team, "LP" requires treatment and medical services at the Mental Hospital.

"Medical treatment is very necessary for "LP" to confirm the diagnosis and his psychological condition. After receiving medical treatment, the next treatment for LP needs to get social rehabilitation services at the Center to restore social functioning," said Karim.

Phala Martha Center will then synergize with relevant stakeholders to evacuate "LP" to a Mental Hospital and plan post-medical treatment.
