MATARAM (5 July 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through the "Paramita" Center in Mataram empowered Troubled Indonesian
Migrant Workers (PMIB) who were picked up on Friday, 02 July 2021 at Lombok
International Airport. He is Agus, the familiar name of a young man from Loang
Batu Village, Central Sekotong, West Lombok.
Minister of Social
Affairs Tri Rismaharini directed that the Center must provide multi-functional
services, namely being able to handle various social rehabilitation clusters,
not only children but also the elderly, people with disabilities, victims of
drug abuse as well as persons with social deviance issues and victims of
trafficking in persons such as PMIB.
"Paramita" Mataram
Center conducted an assessment of PMIB before handing it over to the family.
From the results of the assessment, it is known that Agus has various skills
including weaving used plastic bags into beautiful handicrafts. In addition,
Agus also has the expertise to shave hair.
Agus's ability will be
very useful for Persons Needing Social Welfare Service at the "Paramita"
Center. Therefore, the "Paramita" Center empowers him and making him a
vocational instructor for his expertise.
"Agus can become a
handicraft instructor so that he does not return to being a migrant worker. And
hopefully, apart from being an instructor, we can help market his handicrafts.
We hope that he can be successful and independent without having to work
outside Indonesia illegally. I hope Agus can be an example for other
PMIBs," said I Ketut Supena, Head of Mataram "Paramita" Center.
Agus is grateful to have
this opportunity. “I am very grateful to Mr. Ketut and Paramita Center who have
provided an extraordinary opportunity so that I can channel my talents here. I
am committed to being able to help the children of Paramita Center to have the
skills to help them after leaving this Center," he said.
