Plastic Bottles Change the Hope of Person with Intellectual Disability
SOUTH TANGERANG (22 September 2021) - There is something
different with Silver Abadi's routine, a person with an intellectual
disability, one of the beneficiaries of the Ciungwanara Center family-based
ATENSI service. After helping his mother clean the house, Silver immediately
rushed to the living room to cut out some used bottles. From his imagination
created flowers that are worth selling.
After approximately five months of getting
assistance from Social Workers and Occupational Therapists from Ciungwanara
Center and South Tangerang City Social Assistants, Silver has shown a lot of
progress, one of which is developments in interacting with other people and the
most visible is his vocational ability in processing used bottles into flowers.
Assisted by his mother, Silver looks
painstakingly cutting, painting, shaping, and arranging bottles of drinks into
flowers.
"Silver likes making these flowers, he
still needs guidance but a lot of progress has been shown, thanks to the
direction and guidance from the Ministry of Social Affairs," explained Silver’s
mother.
Siti Sari Rumayanti looked enthusiastic
when she saw Silver's flowers and tried to make Ciungwanara Center help market
the product.
"We have displayed some of the flowers
in the SKA Ciungwanara showroom, apart from selling them online. We hope, of
course, that the PM's skills can make him more independent," he added.
The Social Workers who accompany Silver
also have the same hope, so that his ability can help him to live
independently.
Ciungwanara
Center will continue to help market the product and assist Silver to become
independent.
