JAKARTA (June 25, 2020) - The Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat representing the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, officially opened the Interactive Dialogue event in the context of the 2020 International Anti-Narcotics Day (HANI 2020) at the Heroes Cemetery (TMP) Theater Building in Kalibata , Jakarta.
The event, which was organized by the Communication Forum for Drug Social Welfare Institutions (FK LKS NAPZA), was conducted virtually. The goal is to echo the spirit of zero or anti-drugs among Indonesian people.
The Director General of Social Rehabilitation said that the current fact is that drugs are targeting the millennial generation. "Data from the National Narcotics Board (BNN) in 2018, as many as 2.29 million students in 13 provincial capitals were victims of drug abuse," he said.
The Drug Emergency launched by the President, Joko Widodo, has strengthened the Ministry of Social Affairs to continue to promote socialization to social rehabilitation services for victims of drug abuse.
"The current policy of the Ministry of Social Affairs focuses on increasing the capacity and quality of human resources for beneficiaries through social rehabilitation programs. One of the social rehabilitation programs is handling victims of abuse of Psychotropic Narcotics and Other Addictive Substances (NAPZA)," explained the Director General of Social Rehabilitation.
The Ministry of Social Affairs will make several changes to make rehabilitation services more effective. Its strengths are not only institutionally based, but can also be family based. "This treatment is adjusted to the results of the initial assessment. If the victim can be rehabilitated at the family level, the role of the Ministry of Social Affairs is to strengthen the family," said the Director General of Social Rehabilitation.
The Ministry of Social Affairs will provide reinforcement and support for families so they don't hate and isolate victims, but give full attention to victims so they don't fall into the trap again.
Therefore, the Director General of Social Rehabilitation emphasizes the importance of cooperating with drug Social Service Agency (LKS) in carrying out social rehabilitation, because NAPZA LKS has concern for drug victims. Drugs LKS are also at the forefront of social rehabilitation at the family level.

On this occasion, there were also figures who managed to escape the shackles of drugs, some of whom were Bimbim and Ivan Slank. They share experiences and also provide motivation for friends who are still shackled to drugs.
Bimbim Slank trying to get out of drug addiction. "It's useless for us to shout for independence and freedom if we ourselves are not free from this addiction. This is what makes us think about freeing ourselves from drug addiction," he said.
In line with this, Ivan Slank also told how difficult it was to get out of the shackles of drugs. "We are aware that we have to get out. Only we have limitations. Finally, support from Mrs. Iffet and her family helped us. The help from the dearest ones managed to get us out of drug addiction," he explained.
In dealing with drug addicts, emotions and anger are not the solution. This was expressed by Bunda Iffet, who has been supporting Slank all this time. "Drug addicts are treated not by being scolded, but by being given love. If they are scolded they will become worse," he said.
Various successes in handling victims of drug abuse, both at the family level and at the institutional level, have raised the Ministry of Social Affairs' optimism. "My worries turned into optimism because the Ministry of Social Affairs saw a lot of support from the wider community for drug handling. One of them was Dr. FK LKS NAPZA," he said.
The Ministry of Social Affairs will also in the near future launch a Contact Center that can provide consulting services for drug addicts. This Contact Center will involve addiction consultants.
This webinar was attended by 529 from the Provincial and District/City Social Offices throughout Indonesia, National Narcostics Board (BNN) and Regional National Narcotics Board (BNNK) and Drugs Social Service Agency (LKS). Also present were the Task Executor of Social Drug Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs along with his staff and drug activists.
