Social Affairs Minister Motivates PPKS After Inaugurating Habitable Houses in Scavengers Village
KENDARI (JULY
18, 2023) – For about 26 units of Habitable House
Assistance in the Scavenger Village of Puwatu Village, Puwatu District, Kendari
City were inaugurated by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini on
Tuesday (18/7/2023) yesterday. In addition, the Minister also handed over
ATENSI assistance in the form of household furniture worth IDR 156 million to
the 26 Family Beneficiaries.
Household furnishings provided include spring
beds and sheets, bolster pillows and pillowcases, curtains, wardrobes, fans,
magic com, stove, 3 kg gas cylinder, regulator, dispenser, dish rack, 1 dozen
plates, glasses, and tablespoons, as well as guest tables and chairs. The
beneficiaries came from the Emergency and Disaster Victims cluster which
suffered from 26 families of scavenger residents living in Kendari City Final
Disposal Site.
After handing over the aid, the Minister did not
forget to visit Meohai Center Kendari. During her visit, Social Affairs Minister
Risma, accompanied by the Head of Meohai Center Fepi Rubianti, invited the Social
Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) to make a dialogue and express their hopes and aspirations.
Amir, a person with visual sensory disability
expressed his hope to the Minister that he could continue his education at
university because his parents could not afford it. After hearing this,
Social Affairs Minister Risma smiled and gave him the motivation to study harder if
he was accepted at one of the universities.
"You study hard first, later when you are
accepted at a university, we will find a way to get a scholarship for you,"
said Risma.
Furthermore, a PPKS from West Muna Regency named
Annisa, a Person with Physical Disabilities expressed her wish to be able to
continue her studies at a senior high school, because she was not accepted due
to her low grades. The Minister of Social Affairs motivated Annisa not to
give up.
"The Center can form a BKM to hold High School
Equivalency Examination of Packages A, B, and C for children. If there are many
people like this, we'll just hold the equality exam ourselves. It's okay, we
help these children with their education so they can get a diploma,"
concluded Risma.
