SURAKARTA (July 16, 2021) —The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Soeharso Surakarta Center distributes ready-to-eat food assistance to people who are self-isolating due to exposure to Covid-19 and funeral workers in Surakarta City.

A total of 150 boxes of ready-to-eat food were distributed, with details of 100 boxes of ready-to-eat food for residents who are carrying out self-isolation (isoman) in Jebres Village and 50 boxes of ready-to-eat food for funeral staff.

The processed ready-to-eat food ingredients come from the harvest of horticultural and hydroponic crops such as bitter melon, tomatoes, chilies, cucumbers, long beans and mustard greens cultivated by the beneficiaries of Soeharso Center which were donated to the Center’s public kitchen.

The ready-to-eat food assistance was handed over by the Sub-Coordinator of the Advocacy Section of the Soeharso Center, Suyono Yusuf, to the Jebres sub-district, which was received directly by the Jebres Village Head, Hanang Setiawan Wahyudi. After that, there was a symbolic handover from door to door to 4 residents who were self-isolating.

Putut (45 years), one of the residents who were self-isolating, thanked the Soeharso Center for caring for residents who were undergoing isoman.

"During the isoman, we were only in the house and for groceries assisted by "jogo tonggo" who took turns giving us necessities," said Tutuko, a resident of Jebres Village who is undergoing isoman.

For the distribution of ready-to-eat food to funeral officials, they targeted the Bonoloyo Public Cemetery (TPU), one of the largest TPUs in Surakarta City. The Isoman Care Team at the Soeharso Center had the opportunity to meet the caretaker of the TPU Bonoloyo Totok Suryanto. According to Totok, since the second wave of Covid-19, many bodies have been buried at the Bonoloyo TPU.
