"Soeharso" Center Donates Crops Cultivation of Horticulture and Hydroponics, Helping the Community During Emergency PPKM
SURAKARTA (July 16, 2021) - In an emergency
situation of the Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM), the staff of Social
Rehabilitation Center “Soeharso” Surakarta together with the beneficiaries (PM)
and parents of the beneficiaries harvested horticultural crops that were
cultivated on the sidelines of the office site in Jebres.
The Head of the Soeharso
Surakarta Center, Heri Kris Sritanto, said that the vegetables harvested this
time will be donated to the public kitchen in the Soeharso Center.
"This harvest will
be processed to complement the ready-to-eat food that is given to people who
are self-isolating at home due to exposure to Covid-19, so that they can reduce
the burden during this emergency PPKM," said Heri Kris Sritanto during a
discussion on harvest opportunities in the garden with beneficiaries and
beneficiary parents and the Center’s employees.
Various crops and
vegetables are harvested today, ranging from bitter melon, tomatoes, chilies,
cucumbers and long beans to hydroponic mustard plants. Harvesting of
horticultural crops is carried out by the beneficiaries and the beneficiary's
parents directly in the garden and accompanied by several employees of the
Soeharso Center.
According to Arizal, one
of the beneficiaries who came from Gresik Regency, East Java, this time more
types of plants were harvested and the results were also abundant. "My
friends and I are happy to be able to harvest the plants and vegetables that we
have cared for so far. After this harvest, we will be more diligent in growing
vegetables," said Arizal.
Sri Astuti, the parent of
a beneficiary named Nisa who comes from Wonosobo Regency, is very happy that
her child can learn to grow vegetables at the Soeharso Center. She is very
interested in hydroponic mustard plants because her native area in Wonosobo has
a cool climate, lots of flowing mountain water and is suitable for growing
mustard greens.
