BANDUNG (1 December 2021) - The Crocodile Tanning Entrepreneurship and Vocational Guidance Attention Activity has been held for 10 days, from 21 – 30 November 2021.

 

It was held in collaboration with Prof.Dr. Soeharso Surakarta Center and the Jayapura Social Welfare Education and Training Center (BBPPKS).

 

At the beginning of the activity, participants received an injection of motivation from the Special Staff of the Minister of Social Affairs, Luhur Budijarso, and the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, IPB, Slamet Budijanto.

 

Luhur Budijarso invited the participants to be enthusiastic and diligent in participating in this activity to achieve success.

 

Furthermore, Participants received theoretical and practical knowledge on how to tan crocodile skin from Pardiyanto, a person who has been in the crocodile skin craft business for 25 years. Pardiyanto taught the participants from the process of liming crocodile skin, giving color to crocodile skin, to drying crocodile skin. Until finally the crocodile skin is ready to enter the production stage.

 

Not only getting the knowledge of crocodile skin tanning, but participants also get additional knowledge, such as marketing and self-confidence to succeed. The knowledge was obtained from the Papua Province Industry and Trade Office, the Indonesian Cross-Cultural Institute, and the Jayapura BBPPKS.

 

Participants seemed very enthusiastic and happy in participating in all sessions in this activity. “As long as I am here participating in the activity, I am very happy and I am grateful to Pak Pardiyanto who has always taught me in this activity. I am very happy," said Ismail Doyoway, a participant from Mamberamo Raya Regency.

 

At the closing ceremony, Participants received Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) support in the form of crocodile skin tanning materials worth Rp 5,381,500. The assistance was symbolically given by the Daily Executive Head of BBPPKS Jayapura, Malik Alim. Through this assistance, it is hoped that participants can use it as a first step in developing a crocodile skin tanning business.
