SURAKARTA (June 26, 2020) - The Directorate of Elderly Social Rehabilitation of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs distributed 128 nutritional aid packages in the form of basic necessities to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Surakarta City for the elderly and people with mental disabilities of Griya PMI Peduli Solo residents.
The aid was symbolically handed over by the Head of the Center for Social Rehabilitation of People with Physical Disabilities (BBRSPDF) "Prof. Dr. Soeharso" Surakarta, Heri Kris Sritanto accompanied by the Head of Sub-Directorate for Reintegration and Advanced Guidance of the Directorate of Elderly Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Heru Prasetyo to Sumartono Hadinoto, Secretary and CEO of PMI Surakarta City.
The symbol of the distribution of basic food assistance was attended by representatives from the Social Office of Central Java Province and the Social Office of Surakarta City and was held in the meeting room of Griya PMI Peduli on Jl. Sumbing Raya Number 6 Mojosongo Jebres, Solo City.
Heri Kris Sritanto in his speech said that this basic food assistance is a form of government attention, that the Ministry of Social Affairs is here for the elderly and people with mental disabilities. "Hopefully this assistance will be useful for fulfilling nutrition for the elderly and people with mental disabilities who receive services at Griya PMI Peduli." Food assistance worth Rp300.000 per package consisting of 10 kg premium rice, 4 packs of instant noodles, 1 L packaged juice, 1 can of biscuits and a goodie bag.
Sumartono Hadinoto expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs for the nutritional assistance for the residents of Griya PMI Peduli.
On this occasion, Sumartono informed that PMI Surakarta City was the only PMI that did not hold a funding month and did not use the local government budget. "So far, Griya PMI Peduli's operational costs have come from donors who regularly donate their assets through Bank Syariah Mandiri at account number 7039621597 belonging to Griya PMI Peduli or through PMI Surakarta," he added.
"Our hope is of course from the local government, the Ministry of Social Affairs or personally to take care of our brothers and sisters who have mental disorders, the elderly who are abandoned on the streets," he concluded.
