SIGI (July 30, 2020) - Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities (BRSPDI) "Nipotowe" Palu is one of the Technical Implementation Units of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia which provides advanced social rehabilitation services for people with disabilities intellectuals in eastern Indonesia. During this COVID-19 pandemic, the Palu "Nipotowe" Center provided assistance to fulfill basic needs for people with disabilities.
The Palu "Nipotowe" Center handed over 90 packages of basic food social assistance to the Sigi Regency government on Thursday (30/7) this morning. The distribution of the basic food packages is intended for people with disabilities in Sigi Regency, which will be distributed through the Sigi Regency Social Service.
Yhudit Astuti from the Social Service of Sigi Regency expressed her gratitude for the basic food assistance that had been distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Nipotowe" Center in Sigi Regency. "We hope that this program can be sustainable considering the number of people with disabilities in Sigi Regency is quite large," she said.
This was welcomed by community representatives from Kotarindau Village, Dolo District, Mohammad Fadel who expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided to persons with disabilities. "This program is very important for people with disabilities, and we are grateful because next year, the village government will also take part in an empowerment program for people with disabilities which is planned to be included in the village program, so that people with disabilities can be independent," he said at the symbolic handing over of aid. which was held at the Kotarindau Village Office, Dolo District, Sigi Regency.
Aladin, Head of the "Nipotowe" Center, stated that the basic food assistance was a program of the Ministry of Social Affairs to assist people with disabilities in dealing with the situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "The distribution of 90 food packages is the last distribution of a total of 840 basic food packages budgeted by the "Nipotowe" Center for people with disabilities and has been distributed to all five regencies/cities, including today in Sigi Regency," he said.
According to Aladin, the activity could be carried out because of the cooperation and response of the local government, especially the Social Service in collecting data on persons with disabilities. "This food aid can be distributed based on data obtained from local governments, especially the Social Service," he explained.
Therefore, Aladin appreciates the cooperation and hard work of the assistants who contribute to collecting data on persons with disabilities. "Data is very important, so that beneficiaries are more targeted and aid programs can be distributed," said Aladin, which was followed by the symbolic handing over of basic food packages to persons with disabilities, together with the Sigi District Social Service and community representatives in Kotarindau Village, District Dolo, Sigi Regency.
