JAKARTA (April 25, 2021) – The "Melati" Disability Center in Jakarta as a Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs received an offer to collaborate with Prof. Muhammadiyah University. Dr. Hamka (UHAMKA) Jakarta. The Photography Enthusiast Student Activity Unit (UKM MPFI) UHAMKA provided photography training with the theme "One Sense of Storytelling" for 13 Beneficiaries (PM) and also employees. The training activities were carried out in 3 stages which started last Saturday (24/4), then Wednesday (28/4), and ended later on Wednesday (5/5).

MPFI UKM UHAMKA, which was formed on July 14, 2000, has organized many activities in the field of photography. One of their big events is holding an exhibition with the theme "Mother for the Sake of Her Baby" during the anniversary of UHAMKA. Photography has become a hobby that is popular with many people. Through photography, media is created that can describe all kinds of events. The resulting images are able to interpret the value and taste of a certain condition.

Head of the "Melati" Disability Center, Puti Chairida Anwar welcomed the offer of training from UHAMKA. In a coordination meeting a few days earlier, Puti revealed that the "Melati" Disability Center really appreciated the wishes of fellow UHAMKA students who wanted to share knowledge and experience with PMs.

“The month of Ramadan is full of blessings. Hopefully, all the knowledge that younger students give will be a reward of goodness that continues to flow. The PM of the "Melati" Disability Center are great children who have a lot of potentials. The science of photography will certainly be very interesting for them and hopefully, this will be useful for PMs as a support for their independence in entrepreneurship," said Puti.

"Through this training, we can look for PM's talent in the field of photography and the center will provide support to optimize this potential through the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program," continued Puti.

In the first phase of the training, the PM and the assistants received material on basic photography techniques and how to optimize photography using smartphone camera functions. The training, which started at 13.00 WIB, was exciting even though the participants and facilitators from UHAMKA were undergoing Ramadan fasting.

One of the training facilitators from UHAMKA, Kamala expressed her enthusiasm during the activity.

“I feel happy to be able to share with friends at the "Melati" Disability Center who are great. They lack communication, but their comprehension and imagination are extraordinary. Earlier there were even PM's friends who were able to produce photographs with epic angles. In fact, it was only the first session that we shared basic knowledge but they were able to apply it. Thank you also to the assistants from the Balai who made it easy for us to transfer knowledge to PM friends," said Kamala.

Iqbal Wirandra, a PM from the "Melati" Disability Center enthusiastically shared his experience after attending the training.

"I'm happy to get new knowledge. I like modeling and photography. Later I want to make even better photos and learn more with older students," said Iqbal.

The activity ended with breaking the fast together. MPFI UHAMKA UKM students have prepared an iftar meal to be distributed at the "Melati" Disability Center. A total of 70 packages of iftar dishes consisting of takjil and dinner menus were distributed by fellow students.
