BRSODH "Bahagia" Emphasizes Mitigation of Key Populations
BANDAR BARU (October 29, 2019) - Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (BRSODH) "Bahagia" Medan has a program to detect people living with HIV / AIDS who have not been detected, namely Key Population Mitigation. This program has been implemented in several places that have very high risk factors for HIV / AIDS transmission, one of which is in the Bandar Baru.
BRSODH “Bahagia” Medan in collaboration with Puskesmas Bandar Baru, Deli Serdang Regency, conducted education and examination of ten Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs) who worked in the Bandar Baru brothel. The examination consists of testing for HIV, Hepatitis and Syphilis.
From the results of this examination, if there is a prostitute who is infected with HIV, the puskesmas, social workers and social counselors who become officers in this Key Population Mitigation activity recommend that CSWs immediately conduct further examinations at the nearest Puskesmas or hospital to get further treatment or therapy. Then they were referred to participate in the social rehabilitation program at BRSODH “Bahagia” Medan.
These Key Population Mitigation activities will continue to reduce the impact of the spread of HIV / AIDS, reduce to eliminate new HIV infections, reduce deaths from HIV / AIDS and eliminate stigma and discrimination against PLWHA
