Collaborating with Academics, West Aceh PKH Holds P2K2 on Ramadan

WEST ACEH (May 3, 2021) – The Family Hope Program (PKH) Companion of West Aceh Regency held a Special Ramadan Family Capacity Building Meeting (P2K2) in collaboration with Academics from the Ar-Raniry State Islamic University (UIN) Banda Aceh.

“Especially in the month of Ramadan, we carry out P2K2 by collaborating with academics or lecturers, who also act as religious lecturers. In addition to providing materials through various P2K2 modules, the meeting was also accompanied by Religious Tausiyah delivered by Mr. Dr. Fajran Zain, M.A,” said West Aceh Regency Coordinator, Mawardi, in West Aceh.

Mawardi said the implementation of the Ramadan Special P2K2 in April was carried out for 27 groups of PKH Family Beneficiaries (KPM) for the Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency.

In addition to increasing worship and religious knowledge during the month of Ramadan, Mawardi explained that the Tausiyah activity was also intended to raise KPM's self-awareness to sincerely carry out graduation from PKH membership, either independent graduation without coercion or prosperous graduation by PKH companions.

"In his tausiyah, Pak Fajran motivated that KPM is able to live independently, not only depending on assistance but is expected to be a provider of assistance in the future," Mawardi said.

Furthermore, Mawardi said, there were several KPMs who immediately declared their withdrawal from PKH participation in front of other participants, for example, one KPM in Ujong Baroeh Village. "The KPM stopped receiving PKH assistance because they wanted to provide opportunities for other underprivileged communities who were not as fortunate as themselves to receive PKH assistance," he explained.

In the Johan Pahlawan sub-district, for example, from March to April, 30 KPM resigned, while in West Aceh Regency, 160 KPM did as well.

Meanwhile, the PKH Coordinator of Johan Pahlawan Subdistrict, Sri Dieka, said that P2K2 activities coupled with Religious Tausiyah could be a surefire way to raise awareness for PKH KPM to be independent through changing mindsets. "This activity greatly influences the acceleration of KPM PKH graduation," said Sri Dieka.

During the P2K2 and Tausiyah Ramadan activities, the PKH Companion in Johan Pahlawan Sub-district took turns assisting the KPM group or their respective assisted villages.

The Head of the Social Security and Protection Division, Mustafa Kamal, is very supportive of the Ramadan Special P2K2 activities. He hopes that, in other months, a similar collaboration will also be carried out.

“This activity is very positive to do to increase the percentage of independent graduation. If possible, the activity should be conducted not only in the month of Ramadan but also in other months," Mustafa hoped.
