Commission VIII of DPR RI Appreciates the Government's Rapid Disaster Handling of Bogor
BOGOR REGENCY (January 3, 2020) - Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR RI (House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia), Ichsan Yunus appreciated the government that quickly dealt with the disaster in Bogor Regency that occurred some time ago.
"The first thing we have to get over is the victim first. Ladies and Gentlemen, there was Regent, BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency), Ministry of Social Affairs which also have very extraordinary contribution, although it is not possible that we can recover quickly because the funds are limited, but I have seen it has been very maximal," said Ichsan when leading a specific visit with 13 members of Commission VIII of the DPR RI (House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia) in Bogor (31/1).
Earlier, Ichsan continued, house building will also be done soon. There are about four thousand homes heavily damaged, aid is also continuing to flow.
"Then, what is no less important is how we respond to this natural disaster itself in a long time, meaning mitigation, our preparedness in dealing with this, do not have to happen until this bad again so that the program has been launched to plant vetiver, vetiver trees to withstand landslides and floods," said Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR RI in front of reporters.
Commission VIII of the DPR RI conducts specific visits to Bogor Regency in order to supervise disaster management.
"So, we from Commission VIII felt the need to visit Bogor Regency, although the notabene in Commission VIII is not available in Bogor Regency," Ichsan said.
Nevertheless, it said it would continue to pay attention to the areas affected by the disaster.
"However, we feel that because our partners are the Ministry of Social Affairs and BNPB, then in the event of a disaster, all areas will be visited if the time and place is possible," said the PDIP politician.
Upon arrival at the Regent's Office, the group led by Ichsan Yunus was greeted by the Deputy Regent of Bogor, Iwan Setiawan and the Director of PSKBA (Social Protection of Natural Disaster Victims) Ministry of Social Affairs, Rachmat Koesnadi.
The visit began with the explanation of the Deputy Regent regarding the efforts that have been made by the Pemda (Local Government) with the Central Government in the handling of disasters that occurred some time ago.
"Various efforts have been made to help people affected by the disaster, both fulfillment of food needs to temporary housing," said Iwan.
Meanwhile, The Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR RI conveyed the intent of his visit to obtain various inputs from the Local Government.
"Our visit is intended to obtain information and input on policies and issues concerning the aspects of preparedness and disaster management so that appropriate solutions can be obtained in accordance with the problems faced," explained Ichsan.
Present 13 members of Commission VIII of the DPR RI namely I Komang Koheri, Diah Pitaloka, Rachmat Hidayat, Muhammad Rahul, Zainudin Arifin, Delmeria, Muhammad Rapsel Ali, An'nim Falachuddin Mahrus, Achmad, Wastam, Nur Azizah Tamhid, MHD.Alsi Chaidir, and Muslich Zainal Abidin.There was also the Director of Socioeconomic Recovery and Improvement of BNPB, Yolak, Head of Social Services of Bogor Regency, Rustandi, Chief Executive of BPBD Bogor Regency, Yani Hasan and the district attorneys whose areas were affected by the disaster.
On that occasion, Commission VIII of the DPR RI handed over 3.2 billion worth of flood and landslide disaster relief through BNPB and logistics assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs to the Deputy Regent of Bogor worth 221 million rupiah." So, yesterday we coordinated with the Deputy Regent, Alhamdulillah, there was some assistance for our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in Bogor Regency," he said.
Meanwhile, Director of PSKBA, Rahmat Koesnadi said that for the handling of flood impacts in Bogor Regency, the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed 1.395 billion in aid.
The assistance consists of logistics assistance worth Rp.1,230,670,105 and an heir's compensation of Rp.165,000,000 for 11 people, each received 15 million rupiah.
