YOGYAKARTA (June 24, 2022) - Yogyakarta Center for Social Welfare Education and Training (BBPPKS) received a working visit from Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to supervise the role of the Center as a Social Welfare Training institution for Social Welfare HR.

During the visit, members of Commission VIII of the DPR saw the achievements of the implementation of the training activities at the UPT (Technical Implementation Unit) belonging to MoSA. They also get various information on poverty alleviation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province.

MY Esti Wijayanti, in her speech, said that the training center is a central point for strengthening MoSA’s programs.

"Education and training provided must contribute to the community. The implementation is carried out in stages and continuously," said Esti.

BBPPKS Yogyakarta, continued Esti, must be able to anticipate challenges and improve quality to move in a better direction. She paid special attention to the development of education and training implementation.

"So far, efforts have been made by MoSA to help vulnerable poor communities, such as orphans whose parents died due to COVID-19. However, this should not stop there, but how to prepare these children to be more independent by providing skills and independence in the future," said Esti.

Not only handling poverty, Commission VIII and BBPPKS Yogyakarta also discussed the obstacles and problems in the implementation of training by the Center. Eva Rahmi Kasim the Head of BBPPKS Yogyakarta stated that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the technical implementation of the training.

"In the last 2 years, the implementation of training aimed at ASN (Civil Servant) and Community Social Workers (PSM) has been mostly done online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic," Eva explained.

As a result, said Eva, the achievement of learning objectives was not optimal.

"Before COVID-19, the field practice is directly accompanied and guided by the facilitators, but due to the implementation of online training, it cannot be optimal," said Eva.

In the future, BBPPKS Yogyakarta will carry out more applied or technical training towards the empowerment of Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS).

"The existing facilities and potentials at the Center must be used. In addition, strengthening the technical competence of companions and social workers to strengthen PPKS life skills psychosocially and economically must be done," explained Eva.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DIY Provincial Social Office, Endang Patmintarsih, stated that more than 3,000 Beneficiary Families (KPM) successfully graduated in 2021.

"This success was carried out by collaborating on poverty alleviation interventions with APBD funding for socio-economic strengthening of the recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH) through the Collective Business Group (Kube) program managed by the Provincial Social Office," said Endang.

ATENSI was also symbolically handed over in the working visit activity, amounting to IDR 111.314.667
