TANIMBAR (June 26th, 2024) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini distributed various empowerment-based assistance to the residents of Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku Province during her visit to Maluku.
"Today, we are going to hold a social service activity which consists of some programs such as cataract surgery, then there is an examination to get the proper aid tools for persons with disabilities and distribution of empowerment-based assistance,” Minister Risma said.
Minister Risma directly reviewed the residents and community groups that have business and reviewed various health services, disabilities, and other social issues. Other than that, the Minister also distributed various assistance according to the residents’ needs.
Furthermore, Minister Risma also talked with beneficiaries and asked their needs directly. Minister Risma emphasized the importance of processing raw materials into commodities with higher price values. Therefore, she believed that the empowerment assistance could create a habit of self-reliant and sustainable society.
"This is the equipment used for processing coconut oil. So, if you need to make your own cooking oil, you can make it yourself. You don’t need to spend money," the Minister said.
Minister Risma also highlighted the empowerment potential in the Tanimbar Islands Regency. According to Minister Risma, the potential of coconut oil in Tanimbar Islands had high economic value. She also added that Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) would provide training for coconut processing for Tanimbar’s residents.
The empowerment assistance
provided by MoSA included weaving tools and materials, laying hens, boat
machines, fish processing tools, and coconut oil processing devices.
