Gus Ipul's Advice for Orphans Assistance Beneficiaries: Don't Give Up on School
SEMARANG (October 29, 2024) - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) and Vice Minister Agus Jabo Priyono visited a beneficiary of the Orphans Assistance program in Bulu Lor Village, North Semarang District, Semarang City on Tuesday (29/10).
Silvi Apriul Mayangsari (13) and her mother, Eliana Wahyuni (53), warmly welcomed the ministers’ arrival.
During their conversation, Gus Ipul encouraged Eliana to make her daughter’s education a top priority, emphasizing the importance of Silvi’s schooling for her future success.
"Always encourage her to keep going to school. She must, at the very least, graduate from senior high," said Gus Ipul, the advice wholeheartedly supported by Eliana.
Neither Eliana nor Silvi expected the visit from Gus Ipul and Vice Minister Agus Jabo. Along with the visit, Silvi received additional support from the Ministry of Social Affairs, including nutrition packages, personal care items, and school supplies. Eliana also received entrepreneurial support in the form of a new cart for selling grilled corn and sausages.
Expressing her gratitude, Eliana shared that she previously earned IDR 30,000 - IDR 50,000 a day, bringing in only around IDR 100,000 per week.
She hopes the cleaner, more attractive cart will draw more customers and increase her income, allowing her to provide a better life for her family.
"Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs. I’m very grateful for this support for me and my daughter," Eliana said.
