MANADO (January 23, 2021) - Heavy rains flushed the Manado City area yesterday, Friday since noon and caused flooding at several points including the Manado "Tumou Tou" Center.
The flow of water from the top of the hill flows into the official housing and dormitory hall. In 3 hours the entire "Tumou Tou" Center was flooded with mud. Several employees' families took refuge on the 2nd floor of Ari Lasut's dormitory and office. Evacuees also come from outside the hall and occupy the Public Service room. In addition to providing a place, the "Tumou Tou" Center also provides mattresses and blankets for evacuees.
Before the flood got higher, employees and honorary staff had secured all electronic items and important files to the top floor of the office first. Heavy rainfall also caused landslides at two points inside the hall area. Luckily, there were no casualties or material losses.
As of today, the rain has subsided and the flooding has receded, but was replaced by mud. Employees and honorary staff did community service to clean up the mud and remnants of yesterday's flood.
