PALU (October 29, 2019) – Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara inspected the Tatura National Heroes Cemetery (TMPN) in Palu, Central Sulawesi. This is his first working visit after being inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on October 23 to fill the cabinet of Indonesia Maju Jokowi-Ma'aruf replacing the previous Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. The Minister of Social Affairs directly reviewed the rehabilitation of TMPN Tatura which was damaged by the 2018 earthquake.
During the visit, the Minister of Social Affairs - Ari, as he was called, saw and prayed for Colonel Inf. (Purn.) H. Sudarto, S.H., M.Hum, who was the Deputy Governor of Central Sulawesi for the 2011-2016 period. Ari also advised the younger generation to always remember the services of the heroes who have fought for the nation and state.
"Currently, the value of heroism has begun to decline, especially in the younger generation who are influenced by the times. It is the Ministry of Social Affairs duty to promote and disseminate heroic values to the younger generation. Unlike when I was young, young people memorized the names of heroes from various regions, as well as This heroic value is very strong and has stuck to this day, "said Ari.
The Director General of Social Empowerment Pepen Nazarudin who was present to accompany the Minister of Social Affairs on the working visit said that the Ministry of Social Affairs had spent 300 million rupiah from the State Budget to rehabilitate TMPN Tatura which had previously suffered some damage due to the earthquake. The rehabilitation includes rehabilitation of side fences, gates and embossed letters, gazebos, painting of inner fences, painting of buildings, etc. This is clear evidence that the government is present and always appreciates the services of the National Heroes.
