MoSA and BP Taskin Discuss Master Plan to Address Poverty in Indonesia
JAKARTA (November 11, 2024) – Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), alongside Vice Minister Agus Jabo Priyono, welcomed the Head of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin), Budiman Soedjatmiko, and his team at the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) office on Monday (11/11/2024). During the meeting, Gus Ipul discussed concrete steps MoSA and BP Taskin could take together to address poverty in Indonesia.
"Moving forward, we will make this collaboration more concrete, both at the field level and within the regional cooperation framework," Gus Ipul said after the meeting.
This meeting marked the second discussion between Gus Ipul and Budiman, following a previous meeting at the Cawang Kencana Building on Wednesday (10/10/2024). While the earlier discussion focused on data consolidation, this session centered on proposals for a master plan to be developed by BP Taskin. The master plan for poverty alleviation will serve as the primary reference for ministries and agencies in their poverty alleviation efforts.
In addition to addressing extreme and general poverty, the discussion also emphasized efforts to prevent vulnerable groups from slipping into poverty. To this end, MoSA and BP Taskin plan to launch a pilot empowerment project aimed at strengthening community economies.
"We agreed that besides aligning and refining the overall poverty master plan, we will also create joint programs with MoSA, specifically for those vulnerable to poverty, to promote Inclusive Growth," Budiman told the media.
Budiman further explained that poverty alleviation efforts would positively impact economic growth. These steps are concrete measures to help lift impoverished individuals out of poverty, preventing them from remaining in such conditions indefinitely.
Gus Ipul noted that when developing collaborative programs, the sorts of programs should take into account the conditions on the ground. This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to work based on accurate data, supported by sound policy frameworks and targeted programs, ensuring that the results are tangible for the people.
