BITUNG (5 June 2021) - As a city located on the coast and close to the earth's fault at the northern tip of Sulawesi Island, Bitung City is one of the areas prone to earthquakes and tsunamis. Not to mention, disasters such as floods and landslides, which also often haunt people in several locations in Bitung City.

Because of the high risk of natural disasters that must be faced by the people of Bitung City, it is necessary to conduct community-based disaster response training. Therefore, the Ministry of Social Affairs established a Disaster Alert Village (KSB) in Matuari and Girian District.

After the inauguration of the two KSBs, Bitung City now has three KSBs. In 2015, the Ministry of Social Affairs also facilitated the establishment of KSB in Girian Bawah Village for the first time in North Sulawesi Province. Thus, Bitung City can already be designated as a Disaster Alert Area.
