JAKARTA (October 11th, 2019) - The Director General of Poverty Handling (Director General of PFM), Andi ZA Dulung said that social assistance for uninhabitable homes has the aim of returning home functions that do not meet health, safety and social standards.

"Those who will be given assistance are families who meet the criteria to be assisted and registered in the Integrated Social Welfare Data," said the Director General of PFM at the live on air 'Good Morning Indonesia' at Studio 1 MetroTV Jakarta, Friday (11/10).

Andi explained that the donation of 15 million rupiah will be used for building materials only, and there are no fees for construction workers.

"We hope that the mutual cooperation system in the community can be implemented by seeing how the community cooperates in groups to help their neighbors who receive this assistance. The result is a house but the hope is also to foster mutual cooperation and social solidarity," Andi said.

Andi stated that the stages of the proposal were from the Regency / City Social Service Agency or from community leaders who knew there were residents who really need help for house repairs.

“After being submitted to the Directorate General of PFM, we will check whether the names of these people are in the Integrated Social Welfare Data, also whether the land occupied is theirs or family because the assisted ones must be their own land," said Andi.

Furthermore, Andi said, every year there are 14,000 houses that are assisted and overseen by the Social Service Agency and Social Assistance.

“Usually it will be given a target to improve for 120 days or three months. The priority is toilets, kitchens and rooms to support social functions. Most of people that we help are people who are socially economically incapable but many of them are also physically incapable like the elderly," Andi explained.
