JAKARTA (July 17, 2019) - Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated, the Social Welfare Polytechnic (Poltekesos) Bandung was preparing to open a new field of study namely the Applied Bachelor Program and the Entrepreneurship Study Program and the Community Psychosocial Study Program.
According to the Minister, this step was a response from the Bandung Social Welfare Polytechnic in responding to the challenges of the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0, so that the Bandung Social Welfare Polytechnic needed to transform in all aspects, both institutional, management, relevant study programs, laboratories, and infrastructure facilities.
"In addition, there must also be an increase in the competence of lecturers, a conducive campus, as well as developing a network with various pillars of users of social welfare providers so that they can answer the needs of the industry as well as in work placements / work world and the Social Welfare Institution," said the Minister New Student Admission Test (PMB) Bandung Social Welfare Polytechnic Academic Year 2019/2020 at Aneka Bhakti Building, Ministry of Social Affairs, Jakarta, Wednesday (07/17/2019).
In the development of the two study programs, said the Minister of Social Affairs, the Social Welfare Polytechnic will collaborate with the School of Business and Management (SBM) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in the Applied Entrepreneurship Study Program of Undergraduate Program, and with Padjadjaran University in the development of the Community Psychosocial Study Program.
"This step is also part of efforts to fulfill the Draft Law on Social Workers which is currently being discussed with the House of Representatives (DPR)," said the Minister. The Ministry of Social Affairs has also prepared a new campus location in Bandung Regency with the support of the West Java Provincial Government, as stated by Governor Ridwan Kamil at the inauguration of the Social Welfare Polytechnic, long time ago.
Minister of Social Affairs added, Entrepreneurship Study Program was needed so that students were capable of facing the social dynamics of the economy and its empowerment. "It is hoped that through the mastery of entrepreneurship, social workers can help the economic capacity of the community," said the Minister.
Thus, said the Minister, it is hoped that graduates would understand not only the problem of social aspects, but also social independence through efforts to create jobs and social impact analysts and the social work profession itself. "The charity approach that has been put forward so far will also shift to the focus of empowerment through strengthening employment creation in the service sector and industry," said the Minister.
In the same place, Head of the Social Research and Counseling Education Agency (BP3S), Harry Z. Soeratin stated that this was the first written test since the STKS nomenclature was changed to the Social Welfare Polytechnic which was inaugurated on 9 July 2019 by the Minister of Social Affairs, in accordance with Minister Of Social Affairs' Regulation Number 4 Year 2019 following up the Minister of Research and Technology Decree Number: 436 / KPT / I / 2018.
‘The New Student selection test for the Social Welfare Polytechnic academic year 2019/2020 was held simultaneously today on July 17, 2019, at 08.00-13.00 local time in 15 locations spread throughout the country," said Harry.
There were 2,822 participants in the Applied Bachelor Program and 23 in Applied Masters Program. "The written test participants in the Aneka Bhakti Building Ministry of Social Affairs were 375 Applied Bachelor Programs and one Applied Masters Program," he said.
"The test results are examined using the Digital Mark Reader (DMR). Announcement of New Student of Social Welfare Polytechnic results will be held online on July 23, 2019 through the sites www.stks.ac.id and www.kemsos.go.id While the registration of new students for the academic year 2019/2020 will be held on July 24-26, 2018," he said.
