JAKARTA (July 11, 2019) – The Social Affairs Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita leads the inauguration ceremony for primary high leader, supervisor and administrator in Gedung Aneka Bhakti, The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Jakarta.

According to Minister of Social Affairs, this inauguration based on the organizational need such as retired and passed away employee so that there is a need of refreshment, rotation and promotion.
“Recruitment of human resources has been selected very well. Especially for promoted employee, it’s been ensured that it is a qualified human resource to take the place. Employee placement had already gone through the process which has fulfilled the good governance principals carried out in accordance to the rules and as transparent as possible,” said the Minister of Social Affairs in Jakarta, Thursday (11/07/2019).

The Minister of Social Affairs inaugurated a total of 96 new officials. They consisted of 12 persons of primary high officials which confirmed based on the Minister of Social Affairs’ decision No. Orpeg. 14B-VII-40/2019; a total of 30 officials based on the Minister of Social Affairs’ decision No. Orpeg. 14B-VII-41/2019; and a total of 54 administrator officials which has set with the Minister of Social Affairs’ decision No. Orpeg. 14B-VII-42/2019.

“To inaugurated official, I hope for a better service and more responsive to Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS). Several officials within this rotation had chosen more experienced persons to be placed in a more complex functions,” said The Minister of Social Affairs.

Regarding several empty positions, the Minister stated that the Ministry of Social Affairs currently is going through selection process with open selection model (open bidding). “Insha Allah the several position will be filled up soon,” said The Minister of Social Affairs.


Asylum Seeker
Related to several asylum seeker wave which arrive in Indonesia, the Minister of Social Affairs stated that in principle handling the asylum seeker is in the realm of United Nation’s Highest Commissioner for refugees (UNCHR).

However, the Ministry of Social Affairs is present to provide treatment with humanitarian consideration and paid attention to the limit which had been regulated in the law. “The Social Worker Unit has already in between the refugees with focus on the vulnerable group especially for children by giving a psychologic therapy to them,” said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The Ministry of Social Affairs’ contribution is also based on the fact that this asylum seeker phenomenon is a social disaster which on duty and function of the MoSA. “The officer from Directorate General of Social Protection for Social Disaster Victims (PSKBS) has handled this problem. This step is also as a precaution for this asylum seeker problem cause social excesses to our public,” said the Minister of Social Affairs.

So far it is known that the asylum seeker is also being handled by Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta with a plan to move them to Islamic Center. For that plan, The Ministry of Social Affairs has already established communication and coordination with Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta.

“From PSKBS has coordinated with Social Office of DKI Jakarta. We provide support e.g foods and clothes Assistance as requested by Provincial Government,” said The Minister of Social Affairs.
Related to the idea to revise the elderly age limitation from 60 to 65 years old, The Minister of Social Affairs Stated that this is based on several real facts. Many evidences shows that age of 60 years old are not identical to helplessness.

“Actually, a lot of people at the age of 60 years old are still active and productive. Survey also shows that life expectancy of our people is increasing. Referring to Provincial Government of West Java, the life expectancy in there is reaching at 72 years old,” said The Minister of Social Affairs.

From those reasons, the Minister of Social Affairs stated that properly elderly age limitation as mandated in UU No. 13 year 1998 on Elderly Welfare, can be adjusted to 65 years old.
