BOGOR (1 August 2021) - "I used to be a laundry worker. Since COVID-19, it's been difficult to find customers. I started selling ice drinks at home, it's also quiet," said Nurhasanah, a resident of Lio Village, Kedung Waringin Village, Bojonggede District, Regency Bogor.

Nurhasanah, is a widow, who originally worked as a laundry worker. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is very difficult to find people who want to wash their clothes. She also switched professions selling iced drinks at home and her income is now uncertain.

After her business was affected, she became one of 3,000 residents who received five kilograms of rice assistance in Bogor Regency from the Ministry of Social Affairs. "This is very enough for rice, thank God," she said happily after receiving the rice aid.

The same thing happened to Hartono, who now only relies on his income from selling iced drinks and coffee at home, because he was laid off from his previous profession as a construction project worker.

After knowing that he was part of the community that received five kilograms of rice assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, he felt grateful and happy for the assistance. "Thank God, I have helped. I hope I can get capital assistance for trading because I don't work anymore," he said.

In addition to Nurhasanah and Hartono, there is a mobile vegetable trader from Girimekar Village, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency, who is also a recipient of five kilograms of rice, named Sobir.

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, his income from selling vegetables has drastically decreased. What's more, there is an Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM), which makes him unable to trade as often as he used to because he was hindered by regulations.

For that, he felt helped by the five kilograms of rice he received. "Alhamdulillah, it's enough to help a little bit. In the future, hopefully, the pandemic will end quickly," he said

Facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Emergency PPKM in Java-Bali, which made many people lose their income, even jobs due to being laid off, the Ministry of Social Affairs distributed 3,000 rice packages weighing five kilograms each to residents affected by Emergency PPKM in Bogor Regency. Rice assistance was distributed through the local Social Service in six sub-districts in the Bogor Regency area.

Following the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, the Ministry of Social Affairs assisted five kilograms of rice per sack to all regencies/cities affected by Emergency PPKM in Java-Bali. According to the Minister of Social Affairs, the recipients of the five kilograms of rice aid are intended for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic outside of the recipients of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), the Family Hope Program (PKH), and Cash Social Assistance (BST).

Responding to the instructions of the Minister of Social Affairs, the Head of the Section for Social Rehabilitation, Prosecutors and Victims of Trafficking in Persons (KPO) of the Bogor Regency Social Service, Buchori Muslim, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people of Bogor Regency who were helped by the rice assistance.

"This rice aid is very useful for the community, especially small traders, who are already working, but have been laid off. Thank you very much for this assistance, at least it can help the economy of the people of the Bogor Regency area," he concluded.
