Megathrust Threat, Ministry of Social Affairs Formed KSB in Pacitan
PACITAN (March 19, 2021) – In order to provide residents with an understanding of the threat of the Megathrust disaster, especially in the southern region of East Java, the Ministry of Social Affairs conducted socialization, training and the establishment of an area-based Disaster Preparedness Village (KSB) in a number of districts in East Java Province. which are prone to disasters.
After successfully establishing an area-based KSB in Banyuwangi Regency, further socialization, training and establishment of KSB and capacity building for Young Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana Muda) were carried out.
"They will be introduced to their roles and functions as KSB volunteers who will later be divided into several teams, namely the Command Post Team, Social Substation, Umun Kitchen, Shelter, Evacuation, Outreach Team (TRC), and Logistics (Social Granaries)," said the facilitator from the Social Office of East Java Province, Twi Adi.
Meanwhile, the instructor from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Adoxz Hermawan, said that in this activity, participants must first have the same mindset.
"They must first have the same mindset, that after this, they will become disaster volunteers under the name of Kampung Siaga Disaster or KSB," said Adoxz.
For three days, he continued, they were given an understanding of socialization and training with the aim of forming them into volunteers who are ready for anything as volunteers in disaster management, both pre, during, and post-disaster.
Participants were also given material related to the policy of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the context of disaster risk reduction which was delivered by the Middle Social Worker of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Edy Suwarna.
"KSB was formed under the name Jangkar Grindulu, which was taken from the name of the largest river in Pacitan, whose membership involves two villages, namely Kembang Village and Sernoboyo Village in Pacitan District, Pacitan Regency, East Java," explained Edy.
Various disaster management policy materials were also delivered by the Head of the Sub-Directorate (Kasubdit) for Preparedness and Mitigation of the Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims, Iyan Kusmadiana, through connected virtual media on Thursday (18/03). In addition, material was also delivered from relevant Ministries/Institutions (K/L) such as the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), to the Ministry of Villages (Kemendes).
The event is scheduled to last for three days, ending with the commemoration of the 17th anniversary of Tagana at Pancer Door Beach, Pacitan District, East Java on Saturday (20/3).
