GUNUNG PUTRI, BOGOR (11 January 2020) - The Handling of flood victims, especially treatment for psychics in the form of trauma healing for children, received special attention from the wife of the Minister of Social Affairs, Grace Batubara.

"Ministry of Social Affairs has a Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) unit, which are ready to send down to help returning the children's spirit of flood victims," said Grace Batubara when entertained the children in Bojongkulur Village Hall, Gunung Putri District, Bogor Regency, Saturday (11/1).

Children affected by flood, she continued, have a feeling of trauma. Grace said that the reason was children could not occupy the house or study at school due to flooding. For children who do not understand, this often causes the effects of trauma.

"That is our duty from the Ministry of Social Affairs, to come to help them, to grow their spirits, to give them motivation so that they can carry on their activities as before," said Grace.

Grace, who is a member of the Organization of Solidarity Action (OASE) of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet (KIM), came with Friends of OASE from a number of associations including Dharma Wanita Persatuan, Women for the Nation, and the Batik Peduli Foundation.

OASE is an organization formed by First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo and Mrs. Vice President Mufidah Jusuf Kalla on October 27, 2014, which consists of accompanying Working Cabinet Ministers.

In addition to Grace Batubara, who is the wife of the Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, also attended the committee and members of the KIM OASE represented by Siti Faridah Pratikno (wife of the Minister of State Secretary), Zaizatun Nihayati (wife of Minister of Coordinator for Politics, Law and Security), Erni Tjahjo Kumolo (wife of Ministry of Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform), Yanti Airlangga (wife of the Minister of Coordinator for the Economy), Wida Muhadjir (wife of the Minister of Coordinator for PMK), Lisa Thohir (wife of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises), Ester Terawan (wife of the Minister of Health), Nanny Hadi (wife of the TNI Commander), and Fitri Idham Azis (wife of the National Police Chief).

Not less than 200 children from elementary to junior high school gathered in the hall to be given LDP. All of them merged with joyful laughter, singing and playing prizes with the attended OASE companion.

"OASE's mothers are very happy knowing that there is a trauma healing treatment for children here. Since woman have greater human side more than man, especially to children, so that, OASE's mothers were very impressed with the trauma healing," said Grace.

The arrival of Grace, as well as handing over aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs for residents affected by flood in Bojongkulur Village.

The assistance provided was 468.6 million rupiah consisting of 200 packages of A, B, C, D ready-to-eat food, 200 packages of children's food, 400 packages of side dish, 8,000 packages of instant noodles, 50 sheets of blankets, 40 packages of clothing, 40 sheets of tents rolls, 50 packages of kids ware, and 50 packages of family kit.

The amount of assistance includes 300 cleaning tools worth 170 million rupiahs and 11 million heirs to the death victims worth 165 million rupiahs.

"We all work together coming, bringing aid, which we hope it can alleviate flood victims in this village," said Grace.

Reviewing Flood Locations

After entertaining the children, Grace and OASE group moved to observe the location of the flood affected in Villa Nusa Indah Housing Complex. Looking at the condition of the post-flood housing residents directly, Grace claimed to be touched.

"I was touched and quite burdened too. I saw a lot of people whose houses were flooded and filled by mud, and also rubbish were everywhere. This could lead to illness, bacteria and other bad things for health in the future," said Grace.

Wearing boots, Grace and her companion walked along the calf-high-muddy complex. They greet residents who were cleaning up their houses. Some also worked to clean up mud and rubbish on the streets.

On that occasion, Grace also handed over cleaning tools supplies directly to residents of the housing complex, who were struggling to clean the house due to mud after the flood receded.

"Cleaning tools are what they need in this phase because the majority have returned to their own houses and clean them up," said Grace after handing over aid to residents.

Grace hopes that the impact of the flooding problem can be overcome immediately so that residents can return to their normal lives.

"The Ministry of Social has worked responsively to provide assistance in the hope that all of this can be quickly finished and gradually better," he concluded.
