PANDEGLANG (14 June 2024) - Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini during her working visit to Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province, Friday (14/6) provided a number of assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs). In addition to wheelchairs, canes, walkers and hearing aids, Minister Risma also provides various basic needs and nutrition. The Ministry of Social Affairs also provides therapy services to children with disabilities at the Pandeglang Regency Hall.

"When dealing with disabled children, parents may lose hope. They are helpless, so we rush to assist them. Many people with disabilities who could not walk before receiving regular therapy can now walk," stated Minister Tri Rismaharini at the Pandeglang Regency Hall.

While at Pandeglang Regency Hall, Minister Risma took the time to welcome and converse with PWDs and inquire about their needs. Minister Risma carefully listened to the criticisms and suggestions made by PWDs, including Sarah (21). This young girl with a physical impairment has been born without legs and with underdeveloped hands. Sarah's mother stopped caring for her when she was three years old, and her father abandoned her when she was eleven. Sarah's aunt has been caring for her since then.

Sarah's physical constraints prevent her from carrying out her regular activities autonomously. Sarah, for example, requires assistance from her aunt when showering and dressing. Minister Risma then handed Sarah an electric wheelchair, which will substantially assist her in carrying out her daily activities. "You need to learn how to use it. It's not difficult," stated Minister Risma, expressing encouragement.

Sarah approached Minister Risma, asking for assistance with tools and training to sell products online because it matched her interests. "What business do you want, dear?" inquired Minister Risma. "I want to do business online, ma'am," Sarah replied firmly. Hearing the proposal, Minister Risma instantly agreed and directed her staff to assist Sarah. Sarah smiled when she received a favorable answer from Minister Risma. "I’m grateful to be able to meet you and be helped by you," she added.
