JAKARTA (March 3rd 2020) - The Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara introduced the Family Hope Program (PKH) and the Disaster Management Program to 4th grade students of Bina Nusantara International Elementary School (Binus). The Minister of Social Affairs wants to ensure that the current young generation can understand the government's performance as early as possible and feel the impact of the government's presence in their midst.

"We want to make sure that all young people understand as early as possible how we work, what we do, and what impact the community has on the presence of the government," said the Minister of Social Affairs when receiving the student visit of Binus International School at Aneka Bhakti Building, Ministry of Social Affairs on Tuesday (3/3).

Through the visit conducted by Binus, the Minister of Social Affairs hopes that the students who present can absorb many things that would be the task area of the Minister of Social Affairs.

"Once again, welcome to the Ministry of Social Affairs office. We hope that you will learn a lot from this office, especially how the government works," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

With the theme Let's Get to Know Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Social Affairs received at least 70 students. They were given the opportunity to tour and see directly the Minister of Social Affairs’ programs at the booths that had been prepared, including the Disaster Preparedness Cadets booth and the PKH Contact Center.

In a technical field trip, students are divided into 4 groups. Each group consists of 15 to 20 students and is entitled to a tour guide from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In addition to accompanying, officers are also required to explain in the simplest possible language so that it is easily accepted by students. Meanwhile, each group has the same opportunity to visit all the existing booths.

Jillian, a grade 4 student at Binus International School, who is also a child of the Minister of Social Affairs, shared what she learned from her school visit to the Ministry of Social Affairs office.

"(We) learn about how the Ministry of Social Affairs works, how to help the President and the country," he said.

Visiting the PKH Contact Center, Jillian recounted the workflow she absorbed from officers, especially when receiving complaints.

"That (Contact Center) is for PKH, they are like getting calls from complaints about PKH, then they answer like that, then put (input) the data on their computers," he explained enthusiastically.

He admitted that he was happy and learned a lot after visiting the Ministry of Social Affairs office. "So this is really a lot of fun experiences. I know how my father helps the President. Because I didn't tell it at home," he explained while continuing to smile on his small lips.

In line with Jillian, her friends, Raffi, William and Juan admitted that they learned many things after visiting the Disaster Preparedness Cadets booth which displayed a number of properties for dealing with disasters.

"They showed us the Public Kitchen which is used during disasters, and rubber boats to save people in emergencies such as during floods, tsunamis," they said compactly.

Besides being introduced to various disaster properties, they were also invited to play by booth guards. Although they were annoyed because the dice that were thrown always got a small number, they were entertained by the game of snakes and ladders and their large dice.

"They also invited us to play with a different and large snake and ladder, but the chest kept coming out one way. That's what makes me annoyed," they said convincingly.

Meanwhile, representatives from Binus International School, who is also the Chairperson of Class 4 Coordinator, Priyanka Patni, expressed her gratitude for the Minister of Social Affairs 's willingness to accept their students to learn.

"We would like to thank the Minister of Social Affairs for allowing us to come here. And we hope that this can be a good opportunity for our students to learn why government is so important," he said in front of the Minister of Social Affairs.

Furthermore, Priyanka stated the reason for bringing grade 4 students to visit the Ministry of Social Affairs office was because her students were currently studying the government system in Indonesia.

"Now they are learning about the governance system, rights and obligations as citizens, as well as how the government rules the country are represented through the duties and functions of the Ministry of Social Affairs," he concluded.
