KAUR (February 19th 2020) - The central government through the Ministry of Social Affairs handed over compensation assistance to ten heirs of victims who died from Kaur Regency, Bengkulu due to flash floods.


The compensation was given directly by Director of the Social Protection for Natural Disasters Victims (PSKBA), Rahmat Koesnadi along with members of the House of Representatives Commission VIII, Muhammad Soleh, to each of the victims' heirs. According to Soleh, compensation is given as a form of state presence in helping to ease the burden on the family left behind.


"This is a form of social care and sharing sorrow for Kaur residents who are victims. The heirs are expected to be patient, sincere and have the spirit to live life," he said while handing over compensation at the residence of Kaur Regent, Kaur Utara District, Kaur, Bengkulu, Wednesday (19/2).


Compensation is given in the form of cash where each of the victims who dies gets an heir's compensation of IDR 15 Million, so that the total value of compensation distributed by the Ministry of Social is IDR 150 Million.

Apart from the members of Commission VIII DPR RI, also attending the handover of the compensation were the Regent of Kaur, Gusril Pausi, the Head of the Bengkulu Province Social Service, Iskandar Zoo and the Puyang Kekelaman Family.


Regent Kaur Appreciates Assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs

Meanwhile, the Regent of Kaur, Gusril Pausi, who was present at the meeting, expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Social Affairs' response in providing assistance in the form of beneficiary compensation.


"The Ministry of Social Affairs, including from the Provinces and Districts, responded quickly. The Ministry of Social Affairs went directly to the Kaur, then the Social Service District responded to provide data on victims and immediately followed up, so that assistance can be immediately given. Our thanks and appreciation for the Ministry of Social Affairs and parties related to other things," said Gusril.


The disaster that occurred in Kaur on 19th January cost ten people their lives due to the breaking of the pedestrian bridge in their village. The victims came from a number of districts in the Kaur Regency.
