JAKARTA (25 August 2020) - Ministry of Social Affairs along with Social Welfare CSR Forum continue to encourage the participation of Business World in the implementation of Social Welfare. One of them is through Padmamitra Award which is held every 2 years. Padmamitra is an award given to Business Entities that have implemented the best practice CSR activities in the field of Social Welfare. In 2020, Padmamitra Award selection will be conducted virtually and face-to-face, starting 25 to 26 August, 2020 at Swissbell Hotel Mangga Besar, Jakarta.

Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto officially opened Padmamitra Award 2020 Presentation Selection through Zoom Meeting Video Conference. There are 32 business entities that have passed the administrative and assessment stages of the Social Welfare CSR program. Padmamitra Award 2020 Presentation Selection activity is expected to explore subject related to social cohesiveness and social empowerment.

Edi Suharto explained that social cohesiveness is the outcome of a CSR program that is engaged in the social sector. This is marked by a series of social activities as well as the provision and development of infrastructure needed by the community.

"Social empowerment, which is a CSR strategy directed to increase social welfare through economic activities-production of local communities. These social empowerment programs can help to accelerate poverty reduction and reduce gaps between community groups and between regions", explained Edi Suharto.

The Chairperson of the National Social Welfare CSR Forum who is also the Chair of Padmamitra Award 2020 Committee, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Mangkubumi, said that this Padmamitra Award is a form of appreciation from the government to Business Entities / Business World that have organized CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs and activities in the field of Social Welfare.

"For registration through the padmamitraaward.com page, there are 112 business entities. And those declared to have met the requirements based on administrative selection and the Social Welfare sector are 32 business entities, which are divided into 5 categories, namely 16 business entities in poverty category, 5 business entities of disability categories, 6 business entities of disaster category, 1 business entity of victim category of exploitation and discrimination, and 4 business entities of isolated category, "said GKR Mangkubumi.

Padmamitra Award 2020 selection involved a team of assessors from CSR figures (Mrs. Tri Mumpuni), Academician (M. Alfan Alfian), Journalists (Andi F. Noya), Social Welfare CSR Forum (Sarman Simanjorang), and Ministry of Social Affairs (Latifah Ningrum). Director General of Social Empowerment highly appreciates all parties who have actively participated in the selection for the Padmamitra Award 2020 presentation.

"Let us be determined to innovate in working for Indonesia, which is currently facing COVID-19 pandemic," said Edi Suharto.
