Post-Disaster of Seroja Cyclone, Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Compensation for Amount Rp 135 Million to the Heirs
KUPANG (May 4, 2021) - After the disaster of Seroja
Tropical Cyclone that hit NTT Province, resulted in flash floods in a number
of areas and caused casualties. The Ministry of Social Affairs met the heirs of
the deceased to distribute compensation following applicable
regulations.
Director of Social
Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA) of the Ministry of Social
Affairs, M. Safii Nasution, together with the Head of the NTT Provincial Social
Service, Jamal Ahmad, Head of the Malacca Regency Social Service, Folgen Fahik
and Head of the South Middle East Social Service, Nikson Nomleni, handed over
compensation to nine heirs of victims of flash floods that occurred in Malacca
Regency, NTT, worth 135 million rupiahs, Tuesday (4/5).
"First, I would like
to convey the greetings from the Minister of Social Affairs. She advised that
the handover of compensation be realized immediately. She wants all victims of
natural disasters caused by Cyclone Seroja, which occurred in NTT Province,
both those who died, and those who were missing, and injured. "All of the
wounds are given compensation," said Safii conveying Social Minister Tri
Rismaharini's message to the nine heirs.
Based on data from the
PSKBA Directorate, the Ministry of Social Affairs has realized benefits for the
heirs of Seroja Cyclone victims in NTT Province as many as 148 people and wound
compensation for five people with total compensation of 2,170 billion rupiahs.
To the families of the
victims of the disaster, Safii revived their spirits. He asked all residents
not to continue to lament because life must go on.
"Don't be too
complacent about the deep trauma. Do your daily activities as you should before
the disaster. Come on, get up!" Safii said encouraging the heirs whose
family members died as a result of Cyclone Seroja.
On the other hand, the
heirs were very grateful for the assistance they received. According to one of
the affected victims in Malacca Regency, whose house was also damaged and
washed away, Maria (36), this assistance was very useful to finance her future
life.
