President Sets on 6 Figures as National Heroes

JAKARTA (8 November 2019) – The Government bestowed 6 national figures as a National Heroes. They had been rated to contribute for nation’s progress, right before and after the Independence.

Along with the Law number 20/2009 on Title, Badge of Service and Honor, all six figures had fulfilled the general and specific conditions to receive National Heroes Title.

On the past opportunity, the Social Affairs Minister Juliari P. Batubara confirmed that as the authority, The Ministry of Social Affairs had delivered 20 names to be proposed to the President through The Council of Degree, Badge of Service and Honor.

“Furthermore, this is the Council of Degree, Badge of Service and Honor’s authority, also by the president’s agreement in determination of the National Heroes,” said the minister in Jakarta, Friday (08/11/2019).

Referring to the Law number 20/2009 on Title, Badge of Service and Honor, the propose process could be delivered by public to the regent and then to the governor through Province Social Institution. In the future, the proposed name would be checked by the Local Title Research and Study Team (TP2GD).

After passed the consideration, the governor would recommend the candidates to the Social Affairs Minister through the Directorate of Social Hero, Pioneer, Solidarity and Restoration which been managed under the Directorate General of Social Empowerment to verify the administration data.

The candidate would be re-checked by the team. If they fulfill the criteria, then the Social Affairs Minister would propose the candidate to the president through The Council of Degree, Badge of Service and Honor to get agreement of National Hero Title and also another Badge of Honors.

Related to the National Hero Day of 2019, the Minister encouraged all children to become the Modern Heroes. He stated that the form of heroism which could be done in the current time was through the achievement in many aspects.

“Anybody who are Indonesian People can be the Modern Heroes by providing benefits for people and make the nations proud in International and also never done any negative actions such as provocation, spread the hoax, anarchy or harm the others. This will be different compared to the past struggle which sacrifice energy, wealth and even their life,” said the Minister in his written speech.

The real action which could be done, he continues, should be developed and maintained by the nation’s children so that the nation’s integrity which has been built by the ancestor would not in vain.

“Do not let the irresponsible person destroy the nation’s unity and integrity which can destroys our country, divided, and provoked to be fight within each other,” the Minister reminded.

Therefore, the young generations would be hoped to appreciate the hero’s service by doing any nationalism-related activities and improved the concern feeling to help the others.

“The heroism value is inside every person’s heart as the proof of their love to the nations,” said the Minister. This year, the Commemoration of National Hero Day used the theme of “I Am The Modern Hero”.
