Adolescence is a stage of development that will be passed by every individual. Adolescence can also be said to be a turning point in the mental development of a teenager into an adult. For this reason, special attention is needed for adolescents in controlling their ego and self-existence in a social environment. Adolescents have the potential to develop themselves or even fall into the wrong or right conditions if they do not get proper attention and treatment from the surrounding environment.

Recently, Indonesia was shocked by the activities of teenagers in dressing where the activity became an arena to show the existence of teenagers in dressing. This activity, which is labeled as Citayam Fashion Week, has indeed become a new phenomenon among teenagers so that it has attracted the attention of many parties, from artists to government officials to be "involved" in hyping this activity. The teenager who pioneered this activity or event suddenly became a new idol whose name was often mentioned in various media.

But,  is it appropriate for teenagers to hold such activities only on the basis of "creativity" without any restrictions on the eastern norms and values that we all share together?

That's a little story about Citayam Fashion Week, a street fashion show that was initiated on the basis of youth creativity to show its existence in society. Regardless of the pros and cons of this activity, it would be wise if the government could provide a means of self-expression for underprivileged youth in a more organized and controlled manner. The flow of talent distribution and the existence of this youth must be regulated so that it does not become a complicated problem in the future, especially when it is related to the values of morality and religious teachings recognized in Indonesia.

Citayam Fashion Week is an event for teenagers to show their existence which may be indicated by deviant behavior. This can be seen in several news reports and videos showing teenage boys wearing women's clothes or dressing like women and other potential deviant behaviors. If the government does not get wise attention, it can be a first step in "justifying" this deviant behavior.

In addition, considering the location of the implementation is on a highway that is still traversed by vehicles, it is necessary to have a better implementation system so that it does not become a new problem on the highway.

The amazing thing about this street fashion phenomenon is that many of our people have not been able to channel their talents and creativity where they should. Fashion or dress performances should be able to provide knowledge or even become a literacy material for the implementers to understand the procedures or manners in dressing according to the context carried in a performance.

Citayam Fashion Week has indeed attracted a lot of attention, but this phenomenon also needs to be addressed wisely and should not only be considered as an arena for youth creativity. There are several notes that might be a material for attention or reflection in addressing this phenomenon.

The birth of Citayam Fashion Week is the birth of a subculture, a movement caused by disappointment with the state of the existing structure in general. In the social life of society, there are times when a person or group of individuals has a different view of the values adopted by the environment. People who feel this way will try to show themselves by creating an "area" to actualize themselves even though what they do may be contrary to what is owned by the community in their environment. This contradictory form of self-actualization is then referred to as a subculture.

The concept of street fashion will certainly be very different from the concept of fashion which is organized in a structured manner by the organizer of the show. The concept is different from Citayam Fashion Week where teenagers can appear in clothes that match their creativity, in line with Brake's (1985) proposition that subcultures build a collective identity where individual identity can be obtained beyond the identity attached to class, education and work.

According to a sociologist from Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta, Dr Drajat Tri Kartono, Citayam Fashion Week is an urban subversive or urban subversive. "Subversive here in the sense that there are initiatives, creativity, and concrete steps from people who do not get access to the needs they need. Creativity in clothing is not channeled at official demonstrations which ultimately gives birth to fashion shows on the streets," said Drajat to Kompas. com, Monday (18/7/2022).

To be able to answer the previous question, of course, a wise thought is needed which does not only look at one point of view. The Citayam Fashion Week phenomenon is actually not a new thing in other countries. This street fashion show in the Dukuh Atas area is a form of creativity. By doing fashion shows on the streets, teenagers attract people's attention, gather people, and maybe make people recognize their existence.

"This street fashion is indeed a symptom that appears in various worlds, in Japan, it is also crowded in Korea, even in American and European countries," concluded Drajat.
