RPTC Bambu Apus Receives KPO Referral from Bareskrim
JAKARTA (October 29, 2019) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, represented by the Head of Sub-Directorate for Social Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence and Human Trafficking, Dian Bulan Sari, was present at the Press Conference held by the Directorate of General Crimes, Bareskrim POLRI. The press conference was attended by K / L members of the Task Force on the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking (TPPO).
The meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Director of General Crimes, Kombes Agus Nugroho revealed cases of Human Trafficking (TPPO) with the mode of migrant workers who were sent illegally to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with 48 female citizens killed and involved six suspects. Representatives of Ministries / Institutions present included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, the Attorney General's Office, KPPA, BNP2TKI, and Immigration Office.
On this occasion the suspects were presented along with some evidence. The victims were recruited by PT. HKN and accommodated in housing for departure to the Middle East and will be employed as a domestic helper. In fact, since 2011 the government has declared a moratorium on sending workers to the Middle East, so those who are currently dispatched are declared victims of the Crime of Human Trffaicking (TPPO).
In Presidential Decree Number 69 of 2008 concerning the Task Force for the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking (TPPO) establishes a Central Task Force consisting of several Ministries / Agencies. The Ministry of Social Affairs is one of the members of the sub-task force which has the duties and functions of Social Rehabilitation, Return and Social Reintegration. In the implementation of social rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs under the coordination of the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of Social Disabilities and Victims of Human Trafficking they have a Bambu Apus Safe House of Trauma Center (RPTC).
In connection with the above case, 48 victims who were arrested by Bareskrim on Monday night (28/10), have been referred to Bambu Apus Safe House of Trauma Center for social rehabilitation. [DBS]
